Abstract:
A modular safety switching device system for actuating actuators in a fail-safe manner. and a switching device system wherein a plurality of switching devices are connected in series and optically communicate with each other. The system includes a first and a second safety device. The first and second safety devices are connected to each other via an optical link. The optical link may be formed in a way that the first safety device comprises an optical transmitter and the second safety device comprises an optical receiver configured to receive information from the optical transmitter.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are disclosed that define a new, uniform I/O (input/output) interface architecture between the processor module and the motherboard of a computer system, and between the motherboard and expansion boards, via uniform connectors designed to work with the new architecture, such that many different pin-outs are available to the processor module, the interface being dynamically configurable by component control logic of the processor module. Positioning of supplemental connectors (e.g. for I/O or communications) on edges of the cards defines an unimpeded airflow path allowing for efficient cooling of the system.
Abstract:
A control unit for vehicle is provided where an increase in a number of input/output and upgrading functions can easily be performed and, in addition to this, changing of a program in a control unit can easily be performed even when a single-chip micro-computer is used. A control unit is constructed such as to comprise an interface software memory storing an interface software program for connecting an application software program with an operating system in an internal ROM, a CPU for performing computation of the application software program and the interface software program, a RAM storing data such as the result of the computation, an I/O unit for extending the control unit, and an extending device for communicating memory data through a bus or a LAN. A single-chip micro-computer used in vehicle control can easily cope with an increase in the input/output ports or additional functions, and an application software program can continuously be used only by rewriting an interface software program. Further, re-manufacturing of a core unit is unnecessary. Therefore, development of a control unit including programs becomes easy.
Abstract:
An I/O relay interface module for mounting a plurality of relays which are adapted to be connected to individual external I/O devices to be controlled or monitored by a central controller. The I/O module comprises a plurality of relay sockets for detachably receiving the relays, respectively, and a terminal section including wire terminals internally connected to the relays through the sockets for connection between the relays and the external devices. An I/O connector is provided on the I/O module for connection with the central controller to receive therefrom control signals for energizing the relays for control of the associated devices or transmit to the central controller monitor signals from the relays as indicative of the operation of the associated devices. Also included in the I/O module is an expansion I/O connector for connection with one or more additional I/O relays provided in association with additional I/O devices such that the additional I/O devices can be also controlled or be monitored by the center controller through the I/O relay interface module. Thus, the I/O interface module can be expanded to control or monitor one or more additional I/O devices through the respective relays.
Abstract:
There is described a node device of a serial bus system, a bus system with a node device of this type, and an input/output card. In serial bus system, in which individual node devices can have only a limited address space, and in which a number of input/output cards can be connected in order to control and/or regulate an item of external peripheral equipment, limitations arise for the individual input/output cards with regard to the available address space. Normally, the input/output cards, which are connected to the node device, are required to divide the address space of the node device among each other. In order to rectify this problem, the invention provides that a node device of a serial bus system, which has slots for input/output cards, is additionally equipped with a splitter for duplicating a received bus signal and for injecting the duplicated bus signal into another data line, the additional data line serially connecting the node device to input/output cards connected via the slots.
Abstract:
An I/O module samples an industrial process to acquire data indicative of performance of the industrial process. The I/O module has an internal memory in which the data from multiple samples is stored until readout by, or produced to, an industrial controller. The I/O module assigns a time-stamp identifier to the stored samples thereby providing time information to the industrial controller for the stored data when read out by the industrial controller.

Abstract:
An irrigation controller contains a base unit having drivers and output switches for controlling a number of irrigation stations which is less than the maximum number of stations for which the controller is designed. Station expansion modules are provided having the drivers and output switches for incremental numbers of stations. The station expansion modules can be individually bought and connected to the base unit to expand the number of available irrigation stations up to the maximum number of stations. A microprocessor in the base unit can be programmed and controls all of the stations, both those in the base unit and those in the station expansion modules. Pump and accessory timer modules can also be provided for optionally driving a pump and/or an accessory device such as a lighting system.
