摘要: A receiver (e.g., for a 10G fiber communications link) includes an interleaved ADC coupled to a multi-channel equalizer that can provide different equalization for different ADC channels within the interleaved ADC. That is, the multi-channel equalizer can compensate for channel-dependent impairments. In one approach, the multi-channel equalizer is a feedforward equalizer (FFE) coupled to a Viterbi decoder, for example a sliding block Viterbi decoder (SBVD); and the FFE and/or the channel estimator for the Viterbi decoder are adapted using the LMS algorithm.

摘要: A receiver (or transceiver) is selectable between a Gaussian mode and a non-Gaussian mode. In the non-Gaussian mode, a transformation block applies a non-linear transformation to signal samples to convert non-Gaussian noise in the signal samples to Gaussian or approximately Gaussian noise. In the Gaussian mode, the transformation block is bypassed. Samples are equalized using an equalizer configured to operate with a Gaussian or approximately Gaussian channel.

摘要: Systems and methods utilizing a packet gate to improve communication performance with respect to a resource shared for data communication are disclosed. In embodiments, a packet gate is utilized with respect to a shared resource to improve the effective throughput and reduce packet losses with respect to a plurality of data flows sharing the resource. In operation of embodiments, data packets are dissembled into chunks and encoded, such as using forward error correction, for transmission through a switching fabric, wherein at the egress of the switching fabric the packet gate tracks the number of chunks of a packet that has been received and when a sufficient number of chunks are received drops all subsequent chunks of that packet. The admitted encoded chunks are passed through the shared resource, wherein the chunks are decoded and reassembled into the packet at the output of the shared resource of embodiments.

摘要: Multistage Wiener filters (MWF) represent a component of the MWF as an un-normalized vector of filter coefficients within a finite impulse response (FIR) filter in a manner that avoids reliance on the 2-norm operation of the un-normalized vector of coefficients. The 2-norm operation can be replaced by less expensive operations performed elsewhere in the MWF. Preferably the filter adds only a few additional addition, subtraction and multiplication operations to compensate for the elimination of the square root and the division operations used for the 2-norm operation. As a result, it is possible to eliminate all or nearly all of the square rod and arithmetic division operations of at least some implementations of the MWF.
