    Abstract: A system, process, and computer-readable medium for updating an application cache using a stream listening service is described. A stream listening service may monitor one or more data streams for content relating to a user. The stream listening service may forward the content along with time-to-live values to an application cache. A user may use an application to obtain information regarding the user's account, where the application obtains information from a data store and/or cached information from the application cache. The stream listening service, by forwarding current account information, obtained from listening to one or more streams, to the application cache, reduces traffic at the data store by providing current information from the data stream to the application cache.

    Abstract: A backbone service exposes the efficiency of the backbone network using tunnels between any source-destination pairs. The efficiency can be calculated using a ratio of a transmission rate of the packets through a tunnel and a number of hops in the tunnel. The efficiency also can be tracked based upon services using the backbone network in a compute service provider environment. The data generated by the backbone service can be transmitted, stored or displayed for informational purposes to provide insights to service teams on how to improve efficiency in the backbone by change routing behavior, such as by moving caches, adding or removing hops or changing advertisements to network devices.

    Abstract: A method for data transmission over a network and a related device are provided. The method includes generating, by a sending device a data packet for transmission, wherein a header of the data packet includes a routing hint field indicating a status of the data packet, and wherein the status is selected from a status list including a normal packet, a first packet in a heavy flow, wherein the heavy flow is a data flow having more than a predefined number of packets transmitted during a predefined period of time, and a last packet in the heavy flow. The method further includes transmitting, by the sending device, the data packet to a destination address over the network.

    Abstract: In various embodiments systems and methods for managing a network switch, such as for a VLAN is disclosed. In one example, a method includes responsive to a restart of a port of a network switch, obtaining by the network switch a current policy applied to the port, determining based on a parameter associated with the current policy, to apply a default policy to the port, determining a new policy for the port by: obtaining an identifier for a device associated with the port, obtaining a key based on the identifier, the key associated with a plurality of devices of the same type as the device, and determining the new policy for the port using an association between the key and the new policy stored locally at the network switch, and applying the new policy to the port.

    Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are provided for context-based protocol data unit (PDU) identifier provisioning. A PDU service module determines, based on a first PDU identifier and using a LUT associated with servicing a PDU, a signal identifier associated with a set of signals to include in the PDU. The PDU service module generates the PDU based on the LUT associated with servicing the PDU. The PDU service module transmits the PDU and the first PDU identifier to the router module. The router module determines, based on the first PDU identifier and using a LUT associated with routing the PDU, a communication bus and an interface module associated with the communication bus. The router module determines, based on the first PDU identifier and using a LUT associated with the interface module, a second PDU identifier.     Abstract: A system that includes a routing device and a proxy server in a private network. The routing device is configures itself to route data traffic for a network device within a private network using private links. The routing device forwards an access request requesting access to a destination address in a public network from the network device to the proxy server. The proxy server determines whether the access request satisfies a set of access rules and generates an access request response. The routing device forwards the access request response from the proxy server to the network device. The routing device configures itself to route data traffic between the network device and the destination address using public links in response to receiving an access approval message. The routing device communicates data traffic between the network device and the destination address using public links.
