Abstract:
A communication coupling includes a communication port, which communicates with a network component. The communication port includes first and second paths of communication with the network component. A switch may be coupled with the communication port. The switch includes a first position in which the communication port receives a first communication signal from the network component using the first path of communication and transmits a second communication signal to the network component using the second path of communication. The switch may also include a second position in which the first communication port receives the first communication signal from the network component using the second communication path and transmits the second communication signal to the network component using the first communication path.
Abstract:

The system further includes a host processor residing in the base unit and coupled to a communications network, and a first high speed switch residing in the base unit having a plurality of ports coupled to the plurality of connectors and further coupled to the host processor.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for a telephone system includes a switch having a plurality of shelves. The telephone system has system alarms that provide notification of a triggering event are displayed on each of the plurality of shelves of the switch to provide system wide alarm capabilities. Additionally the system generates displays to aid in identifying each of the shelves.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a modular expandable telecommunication system, such as a private automatic branch exchange system (PABX), comprising a main cabinet and at least one expansion cabinet, which are interconnected with each other in order to obtain an extended telecommunication system with increased connection possibilities for extensions and trunks. System characterized in that the main cabinet and each of the expansion cabinet comprise a transmission interface unit allowing connection of the said expansion cabinet(s) with said main cabinet via a single transmission link conveying voice/data channels and low level or local signaling for performing at least mutual synchronization and clock recovery for all interconnected cabinets, the main cabinet comprising in particular a master clock device, a CPU for running the application and a DSP for routing the higher level messages issued by the CPU depending on the physical location of the destination cabinet.
Abstract:
A modular digital telephone system and method featuring a universal telephony shelf adaptable for incremental expansion of legacy telephone switches and as a building block in the construction of new telephony switches. The shelf includes identification and connectors for shelf pairing, and is adapted to receive redundant power supplies, plural line cards, and either a peripheral shelf interface unit or a switch array card which provides both a local shelf interface and three interface units for connection to the peripheral interface units of other shelves. System wide fault displays are provided.
Abstract:
A system for housing telecommunications equipment includes a plurality of vertically disposed chassis, each chassis having a top that is substantially closed, two sides, two ends, and a base, wherein the top of each chassis is adapted to receive the base of an adjacent chassis. At least one vent is formed in each chassis adjacent the base for allowing air to enter the chassis, and at least one of the ends and one of the sides of the chassis are formed such that air may exit the chassis. The vent is disposed between the base and a portion of the chassis selected from the group consisting of either of the ends and either of the sides, and the vent is nonplanar in relation to that portion. More specifically, the chassis may be vertically disposed with substantially zero gap, and the vent member may be either an angled vent member or a notched vent member.
Abstract:
A distribution device (1) for distributed wiring is constructed with multiple modules (3) that have, respective disconnect hinges (14) mounted disconnectedly to a first rail (4) on a distribution backbone (2), and quick disconnect fasteners (11) disconnectedly secured to a corresponding other rail (4) on the distribution backbone (2).
Abstract:
The application relates to modular electronic apparatus (1) for distribution of RF communication signals. The apparatus comprises a chassis (2) arranged to removably receive plural modules (3), at least some of which are arranged to receive and process RF communication signals. A communication path (17) is provided for modules to communicate with each other and/or with the chassis. Plural modules received in the chassis. When a module is received in the chassis, it is arranged to broadcast a message over the communication path indicating its presence in the chassis and its type. At least one other module is arranged to adapt its behaviour in response to the message.
Abstract:
A modular system for the connection of an external communication network to a user network of a building includes: a user module including: a passage opening of a connection cable of the user network including optical fibers associated with respective users and adapters associated with respective optical fibers of the connection cable of the user network, and an operator module including: an inlet opening of at least one connection cable to the external communication network including optical fibers and an outlet opening of fiber optic connection elements connected to the external communication network and provided with a connector at a terminal end thereof. The user module and the operator module are structurally independent from each other and the external communication network is operatively associated with the user network by means of a connection of the connectors of the fiber optic connection elements with respective selected adapters of the user module.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a distributor device for use in communication and data systems technology, comprising at least one distributor connection module. Said distributor connection module comprises a housing which houses input and output contacts, accessible from the exterior, for connecting lines, cables or wires. The distributor device comprises at least one additional connection module which comprises at least one SDH/SONET transport interface and outputs for electrical signals. The outputs of the connection module are connected to inputs of the distributor connection module. The connection module comprises at least one converter for converting SDH/SONET transport signals to E1 signals and vice versa. The invention also relates to a corresponding connection module and a corresponding distributor connection module.
