A fuel cap has a torque mechanism that transmits a rotational torque to a casing main body through engagement elements in response to rotation of a cover. When the rotational torque exceeds a predetermined level, the engagement is released to give a click. The first torque arm is constructed as a cantilever beam having a free end facing an arm support member across a preset gap. Under application of pressure, the first torque arm is deformed and transmits a rotational torque in the closing direction to the casing main body. This arrangement assures setting of the rotational torque of the torque mechanism to the predetermined level to apply a sufficient sealing stress to the fuel cap.

The sealing cap comprises an external cap part with a grip element and a sealing element, which can be connected to a counter sealing element of the connecting piece and in relation to which the grip element can be rotated. The sealing cap also comprises an internal cap part comprising a valve assembly that is configured in an excess/negative pressure combination. An anti-twist stop acts in the external cap part between the grip element and the sealing element. An anti-twist device of this type that has a no-load function instead of a locking function and yet has a simple construction and is easy to produce. To achieve this, the anti-twist stop can be actuated by means of a drive, which is controlled by the operating data in the container and is located inside said container in close proximity to the external cap part.

The valve arrangement (5) comprises a first (7) and second (8) valve body which can move between an unblocking position and a blocking position in a to-and-fro manner. The first valve body (7) is prestressed in the direction toward the interior of the container and is supported in this direction on a first sealing seat (13) located on the cap inner part (4) and on a second sealing seat (14) located on the second valve body (8), said second sealing seat lying inside the first sealing seat (13) in a radial manner. During unblocking of a fluid connection between the interior of the container and the exterior of the container, the first valve body can be respectively lifted from the cap inner part (4) when a first limiting value of the container interior pressure is exceeded and can be lifted from the cap inner part (4) and the second valve body (8) when a safety limiting value of the container interior pressure is exceeded. A drain connection is provided leading to a location remote from the tank or reservoir for facilitating a removal of fluid connected in the annular channel therefrom.
