    摘要: A process for balancing a vehicular driveline including a propeller shaft and an input shaft of a vehicle axle interconnected by a universal joint. First, the vehicle propeller shaft is balanced to a predetermined residual imbalance having an imbalance vector angle of 0° or 180° which lies inline with open set of cardan joint trunnions. The corrected residual imbalance is then visually marked. Next, the input shaft is balanced to a predetermined residual imbalance having an imbalance vector angle of 0° or 180° which lies inline with cross-holes in yoke ears. Again, the corrected residual imbalance on the input shaft is then visually marked. During the assembly of the vehicle, the assembly line operator couples the propeller shaft to the input shaft through a cardan joint cross by aligning the marks on the propeller shaft and the input shaft so that the marks are located opposite to each other.

    摘要: A biasing tool with a main body portion, for biasing a disc relative to a central axis of rotation of a motor hub by steps for biasing the disc adjacent the motor hub. The biasing tool includes; a first and second biasing finger each having a protruding disc engagement region, each biasing finger extending from the main body portion, and an attachment aperture confined within the main body portion accommodating alignment of the biasing tool relative to the disc. The steps include selectively engaging the disc with a disc engagement region of the first or second biasing finger, and aligning a center of rotation of an annular servo track written on the disc with the central axis of rotation of the motor hub by biasing the disc adjacent the motor hub, which forms a common rotational axis for the motor hub and the annular servo track.

    摘要: A hard disk hub has a disk-mounting face formed at one end as a truncated conical surface of revolution symmetric about the hub axis. A cylindrical inner hub member is coaxial with the hub body outside diameter and the surrounding mounting face. The inner hub member is adapted to receive a planar disk with a central mounting hole with disk inside diameter fitted around it. The mounting face is disposed at a hub conning angle (π/2 +/−Ω) relative to the hub axis. Hub conning angle Ω is selected so that a disk mounting force F applied to an inner disk portion surrounding the central mounting opening bends a portion of the disk interior to the hub inside diameter to conform contiguous facing relationship with the conical disk-mounting face. This interior bending portion reduces or eliminates the tendency of the outer disk portion to form an excessive conning angle θ.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing a driveshaft assembly takes advantage of the asymmetrical nature of the driveshaft tube and end fittings to reduce the initial imbalance of the driveshaft assembly. The method includes the initial steps of providing a driveshaft tube having a heavy side and providing an end fitting having a heavy side. The heavy side of the end fitting is aligned so as to be opposite the heavy side of the driveshaft tube. Finally, the driveshaft tube and the end fitting are secured together. The dimensional characteristics of the driveshaft tube and end fitting improve the balancing capability of the driveshaft assembly by permitting levels of imbalance of the driveshaft assembly to be lowered and better-managed.

    摘要: Setting pitch on a windmill airfoil having a longitudinal axis, a rotor blade and a rotor base secured to the rotor blade is accomplished by marking a windmill rotor hub for receiving the rotor base with a reference mark at a location corresponding to a first plane parallel to a plane of rotation of the windmill airfoil in use. The airfoil is positioned along a second plane relative to and substantially completely intersecting the longitudinal axis of the airfoil. The rotor base is marked at a location substantially parallel to the second plane. The airfoil is positioned relative to the windmill rotor hub so that the rotor base is in substantial engagement with the hub. The airfoil is moved relative to the hub so that the mark on the rotor base is aligned with the reference mark on the windmill rotor hub and the rotor base is secured to the windmill hub. An apparatus for marking pitch on a windmill airfoil is also provided.
