Abstract:
A thermal spray apparatus to apply coatings to external and internal surfaces in restricted areas is provided. The apparatus includes: a fuel input line; an oxidizing gas input line; coolant input and outlet; a combustion chamber that facilitates primary combustion; a diverging section that splits the primary combustion flow into two or more streams; an elbow section that redirects the combustion streams; a convergent/divergent nozzle; a convergence section that recombines the combustion streams into a single combustion stream within an injection zone of the convergent/divergent nozzle; and a feedstock injector for the injection of feedstock material for forming said coatings into said injection zone of the convergent/divergent nozzle; wherein the convergent/divergent nozzle has a nozzle throat downstream of the injection zone whereby in operation the injection pressure of the feedstock material upstream of the nozzle throat approximates the pressure of the combustion stream within the injection zone. The apparatus may also include the use of an accelerating gas.
Abstract:
A cartridge device is provided for applying a fiber matrix to a tubular member such as a saphenous vein graft. The cartridge includes a housing, a tubular member holder, a rotational drive, and a polymer delivery assembly. The housing defines a chamber which surrounds the tubular member holder. The rotational drive rotates the tubular member during the fiber application process.
Abstract:
A powder coating system which is provided with a rotating stage which makes a metal cylindrical member rotate while holding its internal circumferential surface, a first booth which covers part of the metal cylindrical member which is held by the rotating stage, and a second booth which holds the first booth. A powder coating introduction nozzle which is provided with a filling port of powder coating and a plurality of powder coating spray ports is provided so that a filling port is positioned at the outside of the second booth and so that the plurality of spray ports can be changed in position in the first booth to face surface parts of the metal cylindrical member. The sprayed powder coating is collected inside the second booth by a flow of air from a blow device and is removed by being sucked up by a powder collector.
Abstract:
Methods and devices for coating an interior surface of a container using ICPECVD are provided. In one embodiment, a method of coating an interior surface of a container comprises: depositing a barrier film on the interior surface of the container using inductively coupled plasma-enhanced chemical-vapor deposition.
Abstract:
Preferred embodiments of the present invention provides a sublimation system employing guidance structures including certain preferred embodiments having a high surface area support medium onto which a solid source material for vapor reactant is coated. Preferably, a guidance structure is configured to facilitate the repeated saturation of the carrier gas with the solid source for a vapor reactant. Methods of saturating a carrier gas using guidance structures are also provided.
Abstract:
A powder coating apparatus for forming a resin coating on the inner periphery of a container (2) having a barrel (21), a shoulder (22) and a mouth (23) does have a holder (3) for temporarily holding the container in place, a spray gun (4) for blowing into the container a powder through an open skirt (21a) of the container. The apparatus further has a first passage (51) for guiding to the spray gun a first air stream together with the powder, a second passage (61) for feeding a second air stream for stirring the powder into the spray gun. The apparatus still further has a third passage (81) for collecting a first surplus of the powder from the container mouth (23), a fourth passage (71) for collecting a second surplus of the powder from the open skirt of the container, and control unit respectively connected to the first to fourth passages. Each control unit does effect a feedback control such that flow rate through and/or internal pressure in each passage are maintained at respective target levels, so that the resin powder is applied uniformly to the tube inner periphery ranging from the shoulder to barrel, with the proximity of the skirt being surely masked not to be covered with the powder.
Abstract:
A technique for uniformly depositing particles, especially phosphor particles, onto a display panel and an apparatus for carrying out this technique are set forth in this application. This technique relies on both electrostatically and pneumatically passing charged particles to the display panel so that a uniform coating takes place both on the flat surfaces and on the curved surfaces.
Abstract:
A pan oiler for spraying oil into cavities in pans moving on a conveyor including a stationary center nozzle assembly and spaced outer nozzle assemblies. The outer nozzle assemblies are mounted on opposite ends of a drive screw having right hand threads formed on one end and left hand threads formed on the other end for moving the outside nozzle assemblies in unison relative to the stationary center nozzle assembly. A pair of electrically charged electrodes are positioned adjacent the nozzle assemblies for setting up an electric field across the spray paths of the nozzle assemblies for reducing overspray.
Abstract:
The sequence controller disclosed is a microprocessor based unit having a user programmable sequence of electronic pulses for the control or synchronization of valves, relays, solenoids and timers. The controller is connected to spray nozzles adapted for projecting atomized droplets of liquid between charged electrodes in a timed sequence to cause the charged droplets to be attracted to and impinge against partial areas of a grounded surface to form a continuous substantially uniform film of liquid on the surface.
Abstract:
In a powder coating system wherein the powder is introduced via a feed conduit from the feed point to a mixing chamber, a pressure gradient oriented against the chamber is produced along the feed conduit by acceleration of a gas jet in the mixing chamber, and pressure recovery is obtained by retarding the powder-gas stream, in order to feed the powder-gas stream through a conveying line to a coating unit. For increasing the quantity of powder dispensed per unit time to the powder coating system, the pressure drop in the powder-gas stream along the conveying line is at least in part compensated for by raising the pressure at the feed point.
