Abstract:
The present invention provides energy-saving pads for use with optical mice. The mouse pads of the present invention are particularly suitable for use with wireless optical mice. In some embodiments, optical mouse pads are constructed by peeling the backing from reflective sheeting, then applying a transparent layer to an exposed adhesive layer of the reflective sheeting. Some optical mouse pads are provided with wrist rests and/or anti-skid bases.
Abstract:
A flexible material such as a transparent tape includes a material which enhances the visibility of a newly formed edge. The material can include a fluorescent dye disposed in the tape, or can be a material which reacts with oxygen, moisture or some other component of the ambient atmosphere to render the edge more visibly evident.
Abstract:
A corrosion resistant tile and a protective tiling system comprising polyurea or polyvinyl chloride tiles having notched or grooved perimeter end surfaces, either z-shaped or curvilinear. Adjacent end surfaces of adjacent tiles form a reservoir for receiving joint or seam filler which acts to seal out contaminants from substrates on which the tiles are placed.
Abstract:
A one-dimensional nanowire and the preparation thereof. The nanowire is self-assembled by at least three building blocks. Each building block comprises a nanoparticle coated with first and second ligands thereon, and the first and second ligands are regionally confined to opposite hemispheres of the nanoparticle. The first ligand is either A or B, and the second ligand is either X or Y; provided that A only reacts with B and X only reacts with Y.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to multilayer pigments based on glass flakes and to a method for the production of such pigments. The resulting pigment can be used in any application for which pearlescent pigments have been heretofore used such as, for example, in plastics, paints, inks, cosmetic formulations, coatings including solvent or waterborne automotive paint systems, powder coatings, inks and agriculture foils, for the laser-marking of papers and plastics.
Abstract:
The present invention provides surface coated phosphors useful in field emission displays and vacuum fluorescent displays. The surface coated phosphor comprises a thin coating of rare earth oxide, e.g., yttrium oxide, disposed on an uncoated phosphor such as a sulfide phosphor. The present invention further provides a process for preparing a surface coated phosphor comprising contacting the uncoated phosphor with a rare earth hydroxide gel solution to obtain a rare earth hydroxide gel coated phosphor, drying the gel coated phosphor to remove solvent residues, and heat treating the dried rare earth hydroxide gel coated phosphor. The surface coated phosphors of the present invention have improved cathodoluminescence efficiency, coulombic aging resistance, chemical, and/or oxidative stability.
Abstract:
A countertop and method of countertop manufacture wherein the countertop has a horizontal surface and a vertical edge surface wherein the vertical edge surface is comprised of at least one luminescent component. The luminescent component being of a solid surface material with a luminescent quality.
Abstract:
A laminar reinforcing structure is provided for impact resisting face on an article, such as toe-puffs of safety shoes, striking faces on baseball bat and ice hockey stick, outsoles for boots of ice skates, and heads or faces of golf clubs, to increase an impact-resistant strength at such faces. The reinforcing structure includes a basic layer and at least one reinforcing layer. The basic layer is made of one or more plies of a fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin material and molded into a profile matching with that of the impact-resisting face of the article. The reinforcing layer is made of a thermoplastic resin-fiber woven fabric dip-coated with thermosetting resin to cover at least part of surfaces of the basic layer or be sandwiched between any two adjacent plies of the basic layer. The laminar reinforcing structure provides excellent mechanical strength and has low weight without substantially increasing the article weight.
Abstract:
A first body is bonded with a second body to accommodate a sensor element therein. An annular convexity is formed at either the first body or the second body along with its peripheral end border. On the other of the first body and the second body, an annular concavity is formed to engage with the convexity. The convexity engages with the concavity to form an inner gap and an outer gap. Glue is filled in the inner gap and the outer gap. The peripheral surface of the convexity and the peripheral surface of the concavity, where the glue is bonded, have plural protrusions.
Abstract:
Very high structure, hybrid amorphous silica products (geltates) having very high absorptivity, in which the hybrid silica product has a % carrying capacity DBP value greater than 76.0 and a linseed oil absorption value exceeding 250 cc/100 g, and a production methodology therefor.
