摘要: The invention features polypeptides that include an extracellular ActRIIB variant. In some embodiments, a polypeptide of the invention includes an extracellular ActRIIB variant fused to an Fc domain monomer or moiety. The invention also features pharmaceutical compositions and methods of using the polypeptides to treat diseases and conditions involving weakness and atrophy of muscles, bone damage, low red blood cell levels (e.g., anemia or blood loss), fibrosis, and/or pulmonary hypertension.

摘要: A gene of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) which encodes immunogenic outer surface viral proteins has been identified by DNA sequence analysis. This gene can hybrid select messenger RNA which encodes and expresses a protein which reacts with human convalescent zoster sera and with polyclonal monospecific antisera which neutralize viral infectivity. These proteins are useful for the preparation of a vaccine for VZV.

摘要: A prokaryotic expression system or a recombinant adenovirus system is used to highly efficiently express VZV envelope gE glycoprotein and the flagellin fusion protein thereof. The produced recombinant gE protein, gE flagellin fusion protein and recombinant adenovirus vector, or composition thereof is used to immunize a mouse so as to promote the body to generate gE and VZV-specific antibody titer, as well as gE-specific and VZV-specific cell immunity.

摘要: The present invention generally provides for a novel NEC-targeted strategy for the development of antiherpesviral drugs as well as for a novel antiviral strategy targeting the viral-cellular nuclear egress complex (NEC) for a small molecule-based therapy or prophylaxis to control infections with human cytomegalovirus or other pathogenic viruses of the group of the Herpesviridae. Methods for screening agents/compounds/small molecules modulating/inhibiting the nuclear egress complex of Herpesviridae are provided as well. Specifically novel drug targets of the viral nuclear egress complex of viruses of the Herpesviridae are provided.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for exact identification of the attenuated varicella virus Oka strain or a strain derived therefrom capable of functioning as an attenuated varicella live vaccine virus, which comprises analyzing the difference in the genomic DNA and fragments thereof between the Oka strain and a sample varicella strain, and determining whether or not a sample strain satisfies all of the following eight characteristics: the sizes of the HpaI-K fragment and the EcoRI-P fragment; the size of R2-487 region of Gene14 and the analysis by PCR-SSCP; the sizes of the restriction fragments obtained by digesting the R2-1764 fragment with AccIII; the absence or presence of a PstI cleavage site; the homology of the amino acid sequences coded by R2-487 coding region; and the homology of the amino acid sequences coded by the coding region of VZV Gene14. The method of the present invention is extremely useful for the quality control and quality assurance of attenuated varicella live vaccines. Also disclosed are an isolated virus strain which is substantially the same virus strain as identified by the above method; an attenuated varicella virus live vaccine comprising the same virus strain as identified by the above method; an attenuated varicella virus Oka strain antigen; and a pair of primers which are advantageously, effectively usable in the above method.

摘要: Disclosed are (1) a fused protein obtained by combining an antigen used for vaccine and a lymphokine by the application of gene engineering, (2) a recombinant DNA containing a nucleotide sequence coding for the above fused protein, (3) a transformant bearing the above recombinant DNA, (4) a method for producing the fused protein which comprises cultivating the above transformant, producing and accumulating the above fused protein in a culture, and collecting the fused protein, and (5) a hybrid protein obtained by chemically combining an antigen used for vaccine with a lymphokine. The resulting fused and hybrid proteins have strong immunogenicity.
