    摘要: Chemically degraded, substantially atactic-free stereo-regular polyolefin resin exhibiting a sharp X-ray diffraction and distinctly modified thermal behavior compared to its precursor resin is disclosed herein. This material is readily mechanically attrited to obtain a product capable of forming a stable colloidal dispersion in a liquid medium having a minimal swelling action thereon. The chemically degraded polyolefin is prepared by a thermal catalytic oxidation treatment whereby the long chain polymers are considerably reduced in length by cleavage of the amorphous segments therein and the amorphous and atactic portions are removed by solvation.

THE REDUCED METAL HALIDE IS OBTAINED BY REDUCING A HALIDE OF THE METAL AT ITS MAXIMUM VALENCE WTH AN ORGANOMETALLIC COMPOUND AT A TEMPERATURE BELOW 0*C. AND IN THE ABSENCE OF LIQUID DILUENT WHEREIN THE HALIDE OF THE METAL AT ITS MAXIMUM VALENCE OR THE ORGANOMETALLIC COMPOUND HAS BEEN ABSORBED ON A SOLID PULVERULENT SUPPORT PRIOR TO THE REDUCTION. CATALYSTS PREPARED IN THIS MANNER HAVE A HIGH STEREOSPECIFICITY AND CATALYST ACTIVITY, AND POLYMERIZATION CARRIED OUT IN THE PRESENCE THEREOF YIELDS HIGHLY ISOTACTIC CRYSTALLINE POLYMER.

    摘要: THIS INVENTION COMPRISES A PROCESS, AND APPARATUS USED THEREFOR, FOR CONTROLLING THE TYPE OF POLYMER PRODUCT PRODUCED DURING SOLUTION POLYMERIZATION OF AN OLEFIN, SUCH AS PROPYLENE, BY MAKING CERTAIN ADJUSTMENTS IN OPERATING CONDITIONS AND MAKING AN ADJUSTMENT IN THE RATE OF INTRODUCING THE MONOMER FEED STREAM TO COMPENSATE FOR THE OVERALL EFFECT OF THESE VRIOUS OTHER ALTERATIONS OF CONDITONS ON THE TEMPERATURE OF THE POLYMERIZATION MIXTURE, THE RATE OF INTRODUCTION OF THE MONOMER FEED STREAM BEING DECREASED WHEN THIS TEMPERATURE FALLS BELOW A PRESELECTED TEMPERATURE AND THIS RATE OF INTRODUCTION BEING INCREASED WHEN THIS TEMPERATURE RISES ABOVE THE PRESELECTED TEMPERATURE. ONE OR MORE ADJUSTMENTS WHICH CAN BE MADE, AND FOR COMPENSATION OF WHICH THE ABOVE OVERALL ADJUSTMENT IS MADE ARE: (A) DECREASING OR INCREASING THE RATIO OF MONOMER TO SOLVENT IN THE MONOMER FEED STREAM AS THE MOLECULAR WEIGHT OF THE PRODUCT IS DETERMINED TO BE ABOVE OR BELOW RESPECTIVELY THE DESIRED MOLECULAR WEIGHT, (B) LOWERING OR RAISING THE TEMPERATURE OF THE MONOMER FEED STREAM AS THE PERCENT OF POLYMER IN THE EFFLUENT STREAM IS DETERMINED TO BE BELOW OR ABOVE RESPECTIVELY THE DESIRED PERCENTAGE, AND (C) INCREASING OR DECREASING THE RATE OF INTRODUCTION OF THE CATALYST FEED STREAM AS THE PRODUCTION RATE OF THE POLYMER IS DETERMINED TO BE BELOW OR ABOVE THE DESIRED PRODUCTION RATE.
