    摘要: Disclosed herein is a method for stabilising a volume of soil (e.g. a volume of soil that defines a road base or a road sub-base). The method comprises applying a coating agent comprising one or more salts of fatty acids derived from coconut oil to the soil, whereby soil particles in the soil are coated with the coating agent, and then applying to the soil a setting agent comprising a metallic salt that is capable of reacting with the one or more salts of fatty acids derived from coconut oil, whereupon a set product is formed. The soil is subsequently compacted, whereby the coated soil particles are consolidated.

    摘要: Compositions and methods for treating contaminated soil and/or ground water in situ. The compositions and methods comprise stabilized forms of colloidal remediation agents that are used to remediate contaminants, namely, organic and inorganic contaminants. The compositions and methods of the present invention are operative to transport particulate remediation agent materials through a matrix of soil and groundwater upon application by injection, gravity feed, or percolation into soil and groundwater, which in turn sequester, destroy or stabilize contaminants out of water to thus decontaminate groundwater in place without the cost or disruption associated with digging the contaminated soil and groundwater out of the ground for on-site purification or disposal at a hazardous waste landfill.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing animal bedding material in which waste cellulosic fibrous material, such as waste paper, is finely shredded after which any metal component is removed and the shredded material is then thoroughly mixed with calcium oxide and water until a temperature of the mixture of about 120.degree. F. to 140.degree. F. is achieved after which the mixture is neutralized with silica diatomite plankton or non-swelling clay in a ratio to obtain a final mixture having a neutral pH and drying the final mixture to obtain a product useful for bedding for animals.

    摘要: Lime, preferably as calcium oxide, is mixed with the contents of sumps, such as oil well sumps, and these generally have a pasty or plastic consistency. The calcium oxide reacts with the materials present and also dehydrates the contents of the sump, causing the sump contents to stiffen. This mixing is performed by a drag line scoop that carries calcium oxide through the sump contents, mixing and blending the oxide and contents as it moves because of the unique construction of the mixing scoop. Once the mixing and blending is complete and reaction of the calcium oxide and the contents is complete, the sump contents are dredged and deposited on high ground to dry by the combined action of sun and air. Drying periods may range from several days to several weeks and the material thereupon becomes a dry, hard and stable type of soil suitable for fill purposes and which, when neutralized with acid, also may be suitable for agricultural purposes.
