    摘要: A resilient leg as part of an attachment for the wheel of a motor vehicle. The leg is provided with a piston rod (4) that has a piston (5) attached to it, that travels into and out of a housing (1), that is attached at its outer end to the vehicle's chassis, and that is maintained in radial alignment by two separated bearings. The piston divides the interior of the housing into two fluid-charged chambers (9 & 10). The object is to ensure satisfactory transmission of moments of force from the piston rod to the housing in a leg that is light in weight. The piston rod accordingly extends through, and is maintained in radial alignment at, both ends of the leg.

    摘要: A steering damper system for motorcycles provided for generating an adjustable damping force for restraining the shaking of the steering system at the time of disturbance. The system includes a cross member laid between the front portions of the mainframes branching to the left and right from the head pipe and extending to the rear, and a steering damper mounted at the center of the cross member. A sector gear projects forward from the housing, and the teeth thereof are inserted through the opening formed on the head pipe, and are engaged with the drive gear integrally mounted around the steering stem rotatably supported within the head pipe. The resulting steering damper provides the desired adjustable damping force without adversely increasing the inertia of the steering system.

    摘要: An automotive suspension assembly providing a jounce stop arrangement. The elastic bumper is placed into a flexible cup. The flexible cup connects to the surface of the cylinder of a strut assembly or other assembly. Upon application of a force upon the elastic bumper, the elastic bumper collapses into the flexible cup. The flexible cup also expands in reaction to the force upon the elastic bumper. The assembly provides dual system of absorbing the energy from an impact in the combination of collapsing and expanding of the elastic bumper and flexible cup.

A series of extension passages extend through the piston and are opened and closed by an extension valve assembly. A first and a second series of compression passages extend through the piston and are opened and closed by a first and a second compression valve assembly, respectively. A rod guide assembly is located between the pressure tube and a piston rod. The rod guide assembly includes an oil chamber for sealing and lubricating the piston rod.

    摘要: A spring strut support bearing, has a top bearing that can be affixed by its inner ring to the front end of an automobile, e.g. to the end of a piston rod of a shock absorber facing a vehicle body. The inner ring is surrounded by an outer ring with radial clearance; at least one elastic spring element made of rubber-elastic material is arranged in a gap formed by the clearance. The outer ring is disposed in a stationary manner with respect to the vehicle body; and only the component of the loading force of the shock absorber extending through the elastic spring element of the top bearing reaches the vehicle body. The inner ring has on each of its two end faces at least one elastically flexible stop buffer for limiting extreme deflection movements in moving direction of the shock absorber, the stop buffers each having the capability of being brought into contact with counter stop faces.

    摘要: A vehicular suspension strut or shock absorber of the type which is connected to a wheel spindle by means of a mounting bracket and which operates in conjunction with a helical coil spring is disclosed. The suspension strut includes a strut body that has upper and lower increased diameter portions or dimples which form lands for receiving the spring seat assembly and the lower mounting bracket, respectively. The spring seat assembly is adapted to be mounted on and held in place by the upper increased diameter portion or dimples, and the lower mounting bracket is adapted to be mounted on the lower increased diameter portion or dimples, which advantageously avoids having to separately weld the spring seat assembly and mounting bracket to the strut body.

    摘要: A suspension control unit as well as a control valve for such unit are provided which are incorporated in a computerized suspension system which automatically and continuously monitors and control's a vehicle's ride performance. The suspension control unit is composed of an actuator and a fluid control unit. A valve is coupled to the actuator for controlling the fluid pressure within the actuator. The valve has an annular body having a side inlet passage and an outlet opening in communication with the reservoir. A poppet driven by a solenoid is slideably fitted within the body wherein the poppet can slide between a first position blocking flow to the outlet opening and a second position not blocking the flow to the outlet opening. The poppet has a shoulder that is exposed to the inlet. Fluid pressure to the inlet of the valve acts on the differential area of the poppet to produce an poppet retracting force which is opposed by the force of an electrically adjustable solenoid. When pressure reaches the solenoid setting, the poppet is retracted to the open position, permitting flow through the valve.
