Interpolymer resin particles comprised of 20% to 60% by weight of uncross-linked polyolefin e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene, and from 40% to 80% by weight based on the weight of the particles of a vinyl aromatic monomer, e.g. styrene, that is polymerized in a suspension process to form an interpenetrating network of polyolefin with polymerized vinyl aromatic monomer particles and having a gel content of 0 to 1.5% by weight based on the weight of the particles for improved processability in end-use applications and improved ESCR properties. The interpolymer resin particles have a VICAT softening temperature from about 90° C. to about 115° C., and a melt index from 0.2 to 35.0 g/10 minutes (Condition G). The particles can be mixed with a blowing agent to form extruded foam articles, such as foam board, and can be used in extrusion, injection molding, rotomolding, and thermoforming processes to form a layer, e.g. sheet, film, and as a tie layer in multi-layer structures to bind adjacent layers consisting of incompatible polymers, i.e. polystyrene and polyethylene for improved rigidity in multi-layer structures.

An end-modified soluble polyfunctional vinyl aromatic copolymer, which is improved in heat resistance, thermal stability, solvent solubility, and compatibility with acrylate compounds, and a curable resin composition using the same are disclosed. The end-modified soluble polyfunctional vinyl aromatic copolymer is obtained by allowing a divinyl aromatic compound (a), a monovinyl aromatic compound (b), and an aromatic ether compound (c) to react with each other, and has, at an end, an end group derived from the aromatic ether compound and having an acrylate bond. The copolymer has a number average molecular weight Mn of 500 to 100,000, an introduction amount (c1) of the end group derived from the aromatic ether compound satisfies (c1)≧1.0 (group/molecule), a molar fraction a′ of a structural unit derived from the divinyl aromatic compound and a molar fraction b′ of a structural unit derived from the monovinyl aromatic compound in the copolymer satisfy 0.05≦a′/(a′+b′)≦0.95. Besides, the curable resin composition includes the copolymer and an unsaturated acrylate monomer.

A norbornene addition copolymer obtained by subjecting a norbornene monomer (A), an aromatic vinyl compound (B), and an α-olefin having 2 to 20 cabon atoms (C) to addition copolymerization, the sum of the content of repeating units derived from the norbornene monomer (A) and the content of repeating units derived from the aromatic vinyl compound (B) being 25 to 90 mol % based on the total repeating units, and the content of repeating units derived from the aromatic vinyl compound (B) being 0.55 to 10 (mol) times the content of repeating units derived from the norbornene monomer (A); and a molded article obtained by molding the norbornene addition copolymer. According to the present invention, a norbornene addition copolymer exhibiting excellent transparency, a high refractive index, and a small intrinsic birefringence value, and a molded article obtained by molding the norbornene addition copolymer are provided.

The present invention relates to a method for preparing an imide substituted copolymer resin comprising the steps of: copolymerization by feeding a mixture of an aromatic vinyl monomer and a vinyl cyanide monomer, a mixture of an unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride monomer and a solvent, an initiator and a chain transfer agent at once to a copolymerization reactor; and imide substitution by continuously feeding the resultant polymerization solution to an imide substitution reactor while continuously feeding a primary amine. The preparation method according to the present invention is capable of continuously preparing an imide substituted copolymer resin having superior heat resistance and excellent fluidity and improving mechanical property and compatibility with ABS resin by inhibiting formation of aromatic vinyl homopolymer.

An olefin/aromatic vinyl compound copolymer which is excellent in transparency and which satisfies flexibility and heat resistance simultaneously can be produced by carrying out polymerization in such a manner that at least one of conditions: (a) the polymerization is carried out to an aromatic vinyl compound monomer conversion ratio of at least 50 mol % when the polymerization is completed, and (b) the polymer concentration is at least 10 mass % relative to the polymerization solution when the polymerization is completed, is satisfied, and the olefin partial pressure is changed so that the olefin partial pressure when the polymerization is completed is from 1.3 to 20 times the olefin partial pressure at the initiation of the polymerization.
