    摘要: An optical element for use in a high mounted stop lamp is formed with an LED light source mounted on a backing plate. The LED faces in a first direction to emit light towards a field to be illuminated. A light transmissive dome encloses the LED light source, the dome having refractive elements directing at least some light emitted by the LED in a second direction transverse to the first direction. At least one light guide is positioned adjacent the dome to receive light emitted by the LED that is refracted transversely by the refractive dome elements. The light guide includes light directing elements to redirect the transversely directed light towards the field to be illuminated. In this way the ineffectively directed light is recaptured and directed expand the lamp's area image to comply with legal requirements.

    摘要: A vehicle lamp can include a primary light source and a visor for preventing the lamp from falling into a state of false illumination due to incident light from light sources other than the primary light source. The lamp can irradiate light toward a predetermined direction. The visor can be provided at a position close to either the light source or a false light source formed by light from the light source. The visor can include a plurality of grooves extending horizontally on one surface thereof, and the grooves can have a V-shaped cross section. An angle made by two sides forming the V-shaped cross section is preferably an acute angle.

    摘要: A lighting unit cover including a deep color (first) resin layer subject to preblanking is laminated and molded in a predetermined position on a backside of a light color (second) resin layer on a surface side subject to postblanking. The second layer protrudes toward the first layer side and a boundary surface between the first and second layers and is offset by a distance toward the first layer side in a laminated portion. The first layer contacts the melted second resin and is subject to postblanking so that a part thereof is molten and drawn by its flow. A step portion in a cavity corresponding to a protruded portion of the second layer toward the first layer side blocks the flow of the molten first resin into the second layer. The first resin is not mixed into the first layer, resulting in excellent appearance and a large light emitting area.

    摘要: A reflection mirror has reflection steps formed as portions of respective paraboloids of revolution and disposed between adjacent ones of closed curves formed as lines of intersection of a group consisting of the paraboloids of revolution with different focal distances and a fundamental surface for the reflection surface. The fundamental surface for the reflection surface includes a first curved surface portion and a second curved surface portion connected to the first curved surface portion in the n-th order continuity (N.gtoreq.1). The first curved surface portion is shaped such that when a light beam, which is emitted from a point light source supposed to lie on the principal optical axis of the reflection mirror, is reflected at a reflection point on the first curved surface portion, the light beam reflected thereat is directed substantially parallel to the principal optical axis of the reflection mirror. The second curved surface portion is shaped such that when a light beam, which is emitted from the point light source, is reflected at a reflection point on the second curved surface portion, the light beam reflected thereat is diffused in a given direction.

    摘要: In a vehicular lamp, a reflecting surface formed on the inner surface of a lamp body is divided into three reflecting regions in a horizontal direction, the reflecting surface having a left side wall that extends in a front-to-rear direction. The reflecting region in the middle has a shape so as to form a part of an ellipsoid of revolution whose axis of revolution coincides with the principal optical axis of the reflecting surface. A lamp bulb is located in the vicinity of a focal point of the ellipsoid of revolution. The shape of each of the reflecting regions is such as to be a part of an envelope of a group of paraboloids of revolution, the horizontal section of the envelope being expressed by an equation of a curve, y.sup.2 =4fx+ax.sup.n, where f is a focal distance, and a and n are constants with a>0 and n>1, when a reference axis thereof is set as an x-axis and an axis orthogonal to the x-axis is set as a y-axis in a horizontal plane, such paraboloid of revolution also having an axis thereof in the same plane as the horizontal section, sharing a focal point in common with the curve, and being in contact with the curve at a point on the curve. The reference axes of the reflecting regions are inclined with respect to the axis of revolution of the reflecting region at predetermined respective angles.
