Abstract:
Improved steamblow commissioning of a steam plant with steam discharged to the condenser and increased use of permanent piping instead of temporary piping with quenching/desuperheating and providing a low back pressure environment to enable aggressive steam blow cleaning.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates generally to a method and system for real time monitoring and forecasting of fouling of an air preheater (APH) in a thermal power plant. The system is deploying a digital replica or digital twin that works in tandem with the real APH of the thermal power plant. The system receives real-time data from one or more sources and provides real-time soft sensing of intrinsic parameters as well as that of health, fouling related parameters of APH. The system is also configured to diagnose the current class of fouling regime and the reasons behind a specific class of fouling regime of the APH. The system is also configured to be used as advisory system that alerts and recommends corrective actions in terms of either APH parameters or parameters controlled through other equipment such as selective catalytic reduction or boiler or changes in operation or design.
Abstract:
A scale suppression apparatus capable of suppressing in a low-priced manner the generation of silica-based scale and calcium-based scale in the influent water, a geothermal power generation system using the same, and a scale suppression method are provided. The apparatus includes a first addition unit configured to add liquid containing a chelating agent and an alkaline agent to influent water flowing through a pipe arrangement to make the influent water higher than pH 7, a second addition unit configured to add an acid substance to the influent water to make the influent water lower than pH 7, and a controller configured to alternatively switch between the operation of the first addition unit and the operation of the second addition unit. The controller controls the switching of the first addition unit and the second addition unit based on the signals output from a scale detection unit and a pH meter.
Abstract:
A method and a system for monitoring the mass changes of a heat exchanger bank of a steam boiler. The heat exchanger bank is supported by hanger rods and support beams to the frame beams of the steam boiler. In the method, the web plates of the support beams are provided with strain gages for measuring the changes in the strain state generated in the support beams by the mass of the heat exchanger bank. The system includes strain gages fixed to the web plates of the support beams for measuring the changes in the strain state generated in the support beam by the mass of the heat exchanger bank, data logging means for logging the measurement data and a computer or a corresponding calculation unit for processing the measurement data.
Abstract:
The method includes: (A) directing a feed water in the liquid phase of an instant expansion tank; (B) in the instant expansion tank, heating the feed water by mixing with the recycled stream from step (E); (C) compressing again at a high pressure the liquid fraction in the instant expansion tank and sending the liquid fraction to the inlet of a heat exchanger or group of heat exchangers connected in series; (D) heating the non-expanded fraction in the heat exchanger(s) while maintaining the non-expanded fraction in the liquid state; (E) recycling the stream from step (D) in the instant expansion tank; (F) in the instant expansion tank, expanding the fraction from step (E) and generating by instant expansion a stream of the searched steam containing the mineral materials of the feed water remaining in solution; and (G) separating the solid particles formed as a blowdown containing water and the particles.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for cleaning heated surfaces with substantially constant progression of a jet cleaning medium. The invention monitors the rotational and translational position of the lance tube and is programmed with a schedule of lance tube rotation rates and blowing medium discharge rates for the specific configuration of the heated surfaces. Based upon the rotational and translational position of the lance tube and the distance the jet travels before impinging upon the heated surfaces, the rate of rotation of the lance tube is varied throughout every rotation to maintain substantially constant progress of the jet across the heated surfaces.
Abstract:
A system and method for controlling soot removal in a heating device (2) in which heat energy is generated by combustion of a fuel, with accompanying production of soot, to produce combustion product gases, and heat energy is transferred from the product gases to a heated medium via a heat exchange surface on which the soot collects in a layer, by: producing (10) an indication of the present thickness of the soot layer; determining (12) the increase in cost of transferring heat energy to the heated medium due to the soot layer; and performing (4) a soot removal operation starting at a time selected on the basis of the determined cost increase.
Abstract:
A steam generator for supplying steam to cooking equipment comprises a water-filled boiler comprising an automatic, level-regulated water emission, a steam discharge for automatic introduction of hot steam into a cooking chamber for the cooking equipment as needed, a heating unit operating at intervals and a decalcification arrangement having a water drain arranged close to the floor and to a side wall of the boiler for, as needed, at least partial emptying of the boiler for the purpose of flushing-out lime particles that flake off and collect on the floor of the boiler. Preferably, the decalcification arrangement comprises an arrangement for generating a flow in the steam generator that automatically kicks in at preferably adjustable intervals dependent on the operating duration and/or temperature of the heating unit to supply water to an elimination device. The arrangement for generating a flow can encompass the eliminating device and can be either a suction tube having a drain provided at the floor of the boiler; a flushing pump having a flushing admission lying diametrically opposite close to the boiler wall; or a steam pump that comprises a cooling device for the precipitation of the line particles.
Abstract:
An acoustic ash depostion monitoring apparatus for a boiler arrangement having at least one soot blower. The apparatus comprises at least one tone generating apparatus for generating a tone and at least one tone receiving apparatus, located in proximity to the tone generating apparatus, for receiving the tone generated by the tone generating apparatus. Also provided are controlling apparatus for determining when the tone received by the receiving apparatus falls below a predetermined level and for enabling a soot blower in proximity to the tone generating and tone receiving apparatus when the tone received by the receiving apparatus is determined to have fallen below the predetermined level.
