摘要: Cement slurries are prepared that comprise water, a hydraulic cement and particles of an oil-absorbent material. The particles are present in an amount sufficient to alter a property of a non-aqueous drilling fluid. The cement slurry is placed in a subterranean well, whereupon the slurry contacts residual drilling fluid on casing and formation surfaces. The oil-absorbent material in the cement slurry may reduce the mobility of the drilling fluid, thereby improving zonal isolation. The oil-absorbent material may be a polyolefin block copolymer.

摘要: A concrete composition and method include a portion of fine aggregate bearing a coating of a polymer or an admixture, which may be a continuous coating layer or a layer of powdered, discrete particles embedded in a binder. The polymeric coating may be an admixture in powdered form, a super absorbent polymer (insoluble in water, but absorbing water), or another polymer such as the acrylamides, co-polymers thereof, polyacrylamides, or the like (soluble in water). The coating absorbs water, but particles are too small to form significant voids. Water is absorbed into the concrete mix in far greater proportions (e.g. w/c ratio over 0.5) improving workability, doubling workability time, and improving ultimate compressive stress (strength).

摘要: The asphalt formulations according to the invention include the use of post-consumer recycled materials and provide for shingle and roll roofing membranes that exhibit performance requirements of the roofing industry. The formulations provide additional benefits of less blistering compared to conventional polymer modified asphaltic formulations, and are less susceptible to external damage such as scuffing and granule loss. The post-consumer recycled materials are olefinic polymers such as polyethylene and polypropylene waxes that may be derived from, for example, feedstock from waste agricultural films, bottles, milk jugs, waste plastics, consumer bags, polyolefin plastics, and synthesized plastics.

摘要: A system for forming a coating on a substrate is provided. The system includes a first mix having a cement, a filler, a defoamer, a cement retarder, a dispersing agent, or any combination thereof. The system additionally includes a second mix having a fatty acid derivative, a synthetic resin, one or more organosilicon compounds, a pigment, a thickener, or any combination thereof. A coating composition is formed by mixing the first and second mix together. Lastly, the system includes a spraying apparatus that applies a wet film to the substrate wherein the cured coating does not yield to wet-rubs and does not stain (effloresce) with cold distilled water.

摘要: A process to use the tailings as construction material giving it waterproofing characteristics and reduce its cracking is presented. For example, to use the mining tailing as a construction material conceding to it impermeabilizing features, reducing its cracking and increasing its resistance. The main stages of said process are to apply a calcium-containing solution to the soil to be treated; apply a solution that that contains calcite-producing bacteria, to the soil to be treated; optionally, add maltodextrin; and stabilize, compact and dry off the mix.
