摘要: A composite material can include: a substrate of a first reaction-bonded silicon carbide (first RB—SiC) material; and a reaction-bonded diamond-retaining silicon carbide (RB-DSiC) layer bonded to a surface of the substrate. In some aspects, the RB-DSiC layer includes diamond particles bonded with a second reaction-bonded silicon carbide (second RB—SiC) material. The diamond particles may be homogeneously distributed through the second RB—SiC or only at the surface thereof. The diamond particles can be in an ordered pattern or un-ordered pattern. For example, a CMP conditioning disc can include the composite material of one of the embodiments.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for producing coated substrates. In the method, an aqueous suspension is first produced which contains water, at least one agglomerate former, and particles of at least one refractory metal carbide, said particles of the at least one refractory metal carbide forming agglomerates in the aqueous suspension. The at least one aqueous suspension is then applied onto a porous substrate, and the substrate then undergoes a sintering process. According to the invention, the diameter of each agglomerate is greater than the pore entrance diameter of each pore of the porous substrate. The invention additionally relates to a coated substrate which is produced or can be produced using the method according to the invention and to the use of such a coated substrate.

摘要: The method of curing reinforced concrete uses a liquid membrane-forming curing compound for the curing of reinforced concrete, but without fully coating the reinforced concrete with the curing compound, thus allowing for oxygen permeation through the reinforced concrete to effect passive layer formation on steel rebar embedded in the reinforced concrete. Prior to curing, a mask is applied to at least one surface of a slab of reinforced concrete, such that the mask covers about 10% of the surface area of the at least one surface. The at least one surface of the slab of reinforced concrete is then coated with a liquid membrane-forming curing compound. The liquid membrane-forming curing compound is allowed to dry, thus forming a curing compound layer on the at least one surface of the slab of reinforced concrete. The mask is then removed to form at least one uncoated region.

摘要: A method of forming a ceramic matrix composite includes arranging a plurality of ceramic fibers into a preform, mounting the preform within a tooling fixture, perforating the preform to form a plurality of z-channels, each of the plurality of z-channels extending completely through a thickness of the preform, pushing a pin array against a surface of the preform through infiltration holes in the tooling fixture to apply a compressive force on the preform, and subsequently, removing the pin array from the surface of the preform. The pin array includes a plurality of pins extending from a backplate. Each of the plurality of pins is aligned with a respective infiltration hole of the tooling fixture.
