    摘要： A multi-well plate assembly has a well plate with a plurality of closed-bottom, open-top wells of substantially uniform square cross-section between the closed bottom and the open top. An insert plate is nested with the well plate and has a top wall substantially covering the open tops of the wells. Inserts project down from the top wall and into the respective wells, such that each insert is nested in a corner of the well. Access ports are formed through the insert plate for alignment with a corner of the respective well opposite the insert. The access port is formed partly through the top wall of the insert plate and partly through the sidewall of the insert.

The container includes a block having a plurality of through holes for dividing the sample into a plurality of partial samples. Each partial sample has its own head space and its own sensor.     摘要： Apparatus for growing cells or tissue in vitro, which permits a concentration gradient of nutrients to develop through a permeable membrane to which a sample of tissue is attached. The permeable membrane is attached to the bottom end of a cell culture insert that in turn is supported by a flange connected to its upper end on the top of a well containing the nutrients. Restricted movement of the cell culture insert in the well may be facilitated by projections extending off the outer wall surface of the insert so as to avoid capillary action in the space between the well and the insert.
