摘要: A treated article includes fibers, a sizing agent, and a retention aid. The sizing agent includes a wax or a component thereof having an acid value of from 10 mg to 220 mg, KOH/g as measured in accordance with USP 401. The retention aid includes a nitrogen-containing polymer independently selected from the group consisting of (i) a nitrogen-containing polymer of Formula I, (ii) a polyethyleneimine, (iii) a polyaminoamide, (iv) a copolymer formed from the reaction product of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine, and (v) combinations thereof.

摘要: A method for producing a sheet of paper or cardboard from a fibrous suspension includes injection of a polymer P2 into a suspension of cellulosic fibers, forming of a sheet of paper or cardboard, and drying of the sheet of paper or cardboard. The polymer P2 is prepared, before the injection, from a water-soluble polymer P1 in inverse emulsion form. P1 consists of at least one nonionic monomer selected from acrylamide, methacrylamide, N,N-dimethylacrylamide, and acrylonitrile. The polymer P1 is subjected to a reaction Re to yield a polymer P2. The reaction Re includes adding the polymer P1 in inverse emulsion form to an aqueous solution M1 of an alkali hydroxide and/or an alkaline earth hydroxide, and an alkali hypohalide and/or an alkaline earth hypohalide, prior to a reaction time of 10 seconds to 5 hours.

摘要: The present invention is directed to products, such as paper and paperboard products, comprising a substrate containing cellulose and top ply comprising microfibrillated cellulose and inorganic particulate, to methods of making such paper and paperboard products, and associated uses of such paper and paperboard products. The microfibrillated cellulose and inorganic particulate material are applied at the stage when the wet substrate is in the process of being formed on the wire of a papermaking machine, thereby avoiding the additional cost of more extensive equipment and machinery as well as in separate drying of a coating. The microfibrillated cellulose facilitates the application of inorganic particulate onto the surface of a wet paper or paperboard substrate when applied thusly, by trapping the inorganic particulate on the surface of the substrate and by giving the composite sufficient strength and a suitable pore structure to make it suitable for printing and other end-use demands.

摘要: Tissue paper of the disclosure exhibits advantageous softness and bulk at a basis weight less than that of basis weights found in currently available commercial tissue products, while delivering adequate strength for machine runability and consumer usage. This tissue is a lightweight paper that comprises a fiber core with up to 60% mechanically fibrillated fibers and a retention or drainage aid such as a cationic polyacrylamide polymer that facilitates drainage, softness, and bulk. This approach can reduce the fiber content of tissue products significantly while delivering the desired strength and other critical properties.

摘要: A method for producing dried multilayer paper is provided comprising dewatering a first aqueous fibrous suspension, thereby creating a first fibrous web; dewatering a second aqueous fibrous suspension, thereby creating a second fibrous web; spraying one or more of a first fibrous web and a second fibrous web with a spray solution or spray suspension, thereby producing at least one sprayed fibrous web; assembling the first fibrous web with the second fibrous web; dehydrating the resulting layer compound by pressing; then dehydrating by supplying heat, which creates the dried multilayer paper. The spray solution or spray suspension contains water and at least one water-soluble polymer P. The polymer P is obtained by polymerizing: 40 to 85 mol % of a monomer of Formula I
in which R1=H or C1-C6-Alkyl; and 15 to 60 mol % of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers.-

摘要: Fiberboard sheet materials containing cellulosic fibers ae disclosed in which cellulose nanofibrils are used as a binder for adhering the cellulosic fibers together. The cellulose nanofibrils are present in an amount of 0.5% to 7.5% by weight on a dry weight basis of the fiberboard sheet. The fiberboard sheet materials have strength properties that meet or exceed the requirements in ASTM C208, and are useful for structural sheathing and roofing board applications. A process for manufacturing the fiberboard sheet is also disclosed.
