Abstract: A hydraulic fracturing pump system may include a hydraulic fracturing pump, a gaseous fuel engine configured to drive the hydraulic fracturing pump, and a transmission system including a gear system mechanically coupled to the hydraulic fracturing pump and torque converter configured to fluidly couple the gaseous fuel engine and the gear system. The torque converter may include an impeller, a turbine fluidly coupled to the impeller and mechanically coupled to the gear system, a stator positioned between the impeller and the turbine, an impeller clutch configured to mechanically couple the impeller to the gaseous fuel engine, and a lockup clutch configured to mechanically couple the gaseous fuel engine and the gear system.

Abstract: A control method is provided for controlling an internal combustion engine for a vehicle configured to engage a lockup clutch during a fuel cut, and to decrease a lockup hydraulic pressure at a fuel cut recovery to bring the lockup clutch to a slip engagement. The control method includes estimating a torque of the internal combustion engine generated by the fuel cut recovery when a fuel cut recovery condition is satisfied. The control method further includes decreasing a decrease amount of the lockup hydraulic pressure as the torque is greater.

Abstract: Techniques modeling and controlling a torque converter of a vehicle include accessing a look-up table relating (i) various K-factors of a turbine of the torque converter to (ii) various K-factors of an impeller of the torque converter, speed ratios of the torque converter, and torque ratios of the torque converter, calculating a K-factor of the turbine based on the set of parameters, determining a speed ratio and a torque ratio of the torque converter based on the calculated turbine K-factor using the look-up table, determining a target speed and a target torque for the impeller based on the determined speed and torque ratios of the torque converter, and controlling a torque generating system including the torque converter to achieve the target impeller speed and torque to thereby achieve the torque request at a driveline and mitigate or eliminate noise/vibration/harshness (NVH).

[SOLUTIONS] Provided is an automatic transmission, including: a torque converter that is disposed downstream of a drive source in a power transmission path and is provided with a lockup clutch; and a transmission mechanism that is disposed downstream of the torque converter and changes a speed ratio between an input shaft and an output shaft, in which in a state where the lockup clutch is engaged, when a rotation speed of the input shaft reaches a first rotation speed, the automatic transmission starts upshift, and in a state where the lockup clutch is disengaged or slips, when the rotation speed of the input shaft reaches a second rotation speed obtained by subtracting a first predetermined rotation speed from the first rotation speed, the automatic transmission starts upshift, and the first predetermined rotation speed decreases as an output torque of the drive source increases.-

Abstract: An electric powertrain includes an electric power source, an electric motor and a multi-speed transmission. The powertrain has an electronic controller. The controller determines a respective rimpull torque limit for the operating gear of the multi-speed transmission and determines whether the rimpull torque demand exceeds the rimpull torque limit. Upon determining that the rimpull torque demand exceeds the rimpull torque limit, the controller acts to either (i) shift the multi-speed transmission to a gear in which the respective rimpull torque limit is at or above the rimpull torque demand or (ii) reduce the electric motor torque command to a level for which the rimpull torque is below the respective rimpull torque limit for the operating gear of the multi-speed transmission.

Abstract: A transmission includes an input shaft coupled to a prime mover, a countershaft, main shaft, and an output shaft, with gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. A shift actuator selectively couples the input shaft to the main shaft by rotatably coupling gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. The shift actuator is mounted on an exterior wall of a housing including the countershaft and the main shaft. A controller controls the shift actuator utilizing an actuating pulse and an opposing pulse.

Abstract: A control apparatus for a vehicle provided with (i) a power source, (ii) drive wheels and (iii) a fluid transmission device disposed between the power source and the drive wheels and including a lockup clutch to which a fluid pressure is supplied. A feedback control is executed for correcting a command value of the fluid pressure by a correction amount such that an actual value of a slip amount of the lockup clutch becomes substantially equal to the target value of the slip amount in a slip control. When the actual value has been converged into a given range with respect to the target value, the correction amount is obtained, and the command value for a next execution of the slip control is corrected by learning with use of the obtained correction amount. The given range is set depending on the target value of the slip amount.

Abstract: A system for bypassing a torque converter in a powertrain is provided. The system includes a torque generating device including an output shaft and a transmission assembly. The transmission assembly includes a transmission output shaft and a torque converter, a torque converter bypass shaft. The transmission assembly further includes a disconnect clutch selectively coupling the torque converter with the torque generating device and a torque converter clutch selectively coupling the torque converter bypass shaft with the torque generating device. Engaging the disconnect clutch and disengaging the torque converter clutch enables the torque generating device to transmit torque to the transmission output shaft through the torque converter. Engaging the torque converter clutch and disengaging the disconnect clutch enables the torque generating device to transmit torque to the transmission output shaft through the torque converter bypass shaft.

Abstract: Presented are clutch control systems for torque converter (TC) assemblies, methods for making/operating such TC assemblies, and vehicles equipped with such TC assemblies. A TC assembly includes a housing that drivingly connects to an electric motor, and an output member that drivingly connects to a multi-gear transmission. Rotatable within the TC housing are a turbine attached to the TC output member and an impeller juxtaposed with the turbine. A lockup clutch is operable to lock the housing to the output member. A system controller is programmed to receive a shift signal to shift the powertrain from a neutral or park operating mode to a forward driving operating mode; responsive to receipt of this shift signal, the lockup clutch is opened. The system controller then receives a TCC lock signal to lock the lockup clutch; responsive to receipt of the TCC lock signal, the lockup clutch is closed.

Abstract: The invention relates to the actuation of a converter lock-up clutch (44) of a hydrodynamic torque converter (4) in a vehicle drive-train by means of a safety function where, in addition to a driving strategy function, the safety function can actuate the converter lock-up clutch (44) by issuing a clutch actuation command. For this purpose, at least one rotation speed at the torque converter (4) is monitored. If the monitored rotation speed is below a rotation speed threshold, the safety function commands an actuation of the converter lock-up clutch (44) in its opening direction.
