    摘要: Techniques are disclosed for improving the quantum efficiency of photocathode devices. The techniques allow for an increase in the optical thickness of the photocathode device, while simultaneously allowing for an increase in the probability of electron escape into the vacuum of the device. The techniques are particularly useful in detector and imaging. In one embodiment, a photocathode device is provided that has an array of corner cubes fabricated in a surface of the photocathode. The corner cube array is made of the same material as the photocathode layer. The device may be, for example, a detector or image intensifier that operates in the UV, visible, and IR light spectrums, and may further include a gain medium, anode, and readout device. Techniques for forming the device are also provided.

    摘要: In a cathode ray tube including a panel provided with a phosphor screen, a funnel integrated with the panel, an electron gun disposed inside the funnel, a magnetic shield (1) for shielding an electron beam (5) emitted from the electron gun against an external magnetic field, and a frame (2) for holding the magnetic shield (1), the magnetic shield (1) includes, at a portion to be joined with the frame (2), a bent portion (20) bent toward a tube axis side, and a thickness T of the bent portion (20) at its edge on the tube axis side is 0.08 mm or less. By making the thickness T small, halation that is liable to occur in a cathode ray tube with a large deflection angle can be suppressed because electron beams reflected from an end face (11) and allowed to reach the screen without being shielded by the frame (2) are reduced.

    摘要: Cathodoluminescent field emission display devices feature phosphor biasing, amplification material layers for secondary electron emissions, oxide secondary emission enhancement layers, and ion barrier layers of silicon nitride, to provide high-efficiency, high-brightness field emission displays with improved operating characteristics and durability. The amplification materials include copper-barium, copper-beryllium, gold-barium, gold-calcium, silver-magnesium and tungsten-barium-gold, and other high amplification factor materials fashioned to produce high-level secondary electron emissions within a field emission display device. For enhanced secondary electron emissions, an amplification material layer can be coated with a near mono-molecular film consisting essentially of an oxide of barium, beryllium, calcium, magnesium or strontium. Use of a high amplification factor film as a phosphor biasing electrode, and variability of the phosphor biasing potential to achieve brightness or gray scale control are further described in the disclosure.

A leakage flux canceling device 30 is mounted to a funnel side of a deflecting apparatus for reducing leakage flux to a panel side attributable to a horizontal deflection magnetic field, and comprises a ring-like body 32 having flanges 32 facing each other, a pair of bobbins 40 and 60 without cores formed on the flanges, a canceling coil 34 wound on each of the bobbins for canceling leakage flux, and winding grooves 48 and 68 formed in the respective bobbins such that the winding of each canceling coil has a greater length in the circumferential direction, and permitting the canceling coils to be wound from the outer surface side of the corresponding bobbins. The bobbins and the ring-like body are formed as a one-piece body, and the bobbins each have an arcuate shape matching the ring-like body.
