    摘要: The invention relates to a method for making a cellular structure, including a cellular panel (10) and a complementary element (48), said cellular panel including a honeycomb core (12) sandwiched in between two cover plates (16,18). The latter has cells (14) oriented substantially perpendicularly to said cover plates. According to the method, a linking area is selected to connect said complementary element (48) to said cellular panel (10) and cells of said linking area are packed with a bulk of plastic material to anchor said complementary element (48) inside said honeycomb core (12). According to the invention, said complementary element (48) made of plastic material is pre-cast through one of said cover plates (16) in said linking area so as to pack said cells (14) with said bulk of plastic material and to form said complementary element (48).

The method utilizes a joint formation assembly defining an inner cavity, a first passageway connected to the inner cavity, an outer cavity surrounding the inner cavity, and a second passageway connected to the outer cavity. The method includes the steps of: introducing moldable material into the inner cavity from the first passageway to form the stationary member; introducing moldable material into the outer cavity from the second passageway to form the enclosure; and divorcing the inner cavity from the outer cavity for separately and independently forming the enclosure around the stationary member to allow rotatable movement of the enclosure about the stationary member.

The front leg (22) and rear leg (24) of each side frame (SF1, SF2) of the walker are interconnected by a lower cross brace (40) that has plastic preferably molded about the entire periphery of each leg.

    摘要: Embodiment of a disclosed seam tool (10) comprises a rigid backing configured to be positioned about a seam region (24) defined by at least two adjacent pattern segments (12, 14). The rigid backing further includes an injection port (20) and, typically, a gas outlet port (22), fluidly coupled to the seam region. The disclosed device may further include a resilient liner (54) which contacts and forms a seal with surfaces of the pattern segments. Compensating grooves may be formed in the resilient material to allow complete filling of the seam region by weld-forming material. An injection fitting may be operably coupled to an injection port to provide an improved ability to receive weld-forming material to form welds. A method for forming a weld between plural, adjacently positioned pattern segments also is disclosed. The method comprises positioning the disclosed embodiments of the seam tool about a seam region defined between adjacent pattern segments.

    摘要: An inventive solid phase forming process, and related structure, using conventional pelletized thermoplastic compositions to form the elements of a non-textile fabric by coining a single pellet or briquette of the polymer into an individual element in a single forming step. The steps of the process generally include: a) positioning a pellet (78A) in or adjacent to a mold cavity, and b) forcing the pellet into contact with the mold surfaces of the mold cavity to plastically deform the pellet to cause the pellet to adapt the shape of the mold cavity (102, 104). The mold cavity has a shape to form the desired element, and its volume is substantially the same as the volume of the pellet (78A). The forcing step or act preferably uses an energy and speed wherein the pellet superplastically deforms to substantially fill the volume of the mold cavity. This process is repeated with the particular element being formed in the appropriate order to form interconnected plates (40) and rivets (42), as an example, with the final result being a non-textile fabric. The elements formed by the inventive process can have any of a variety of shapes, and can form base units for the formation of the non textile fabric of two, three or more elements. This inventive process elimininates the need to first form the pelletized polymer into a sheet or other type of preform prior to the forming of the final product.
