Abstract:
The disclosure relates generally to compositions, systems, and methods for use in preparing single molecule arrays, for example, arrays of single nucleic acid molecules, as well as arrays formed using such compositions, systems and methods by using a spacer which restricts the spacing between adjacent components of the array. In an exemplary embodiment, the array is formed by contacting a surface with a spacer-anchor complex including one or more spacers linked to an anchor, wherein the spacer comprises a linear or branched polymeric molecule folded to form a three-dimensional shape of desired size dimensions. The size of the folded spacer may optionally be adjusted to modulate the spacing distance between adjacent array components.
Abstract:
A method for delivering reagent during a thermal cycling reaction may include placing a delivery device containing a reagent proximate to a reaction site, initiating a first stage of the reaction, wherein the first stage includes a period of an elevated temperature, and after completing the first stage of the reaction, dispensing the reagent from the delivery device to the reaction site, wherein the dispensing includes automatically actuating the delivery device to deliver the reagent.
Abstract:
System for detection and/or analysis of nucleic acids using electrical characteristics of nanowires to detect covalent modification of nucleic acids.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of a low-volume sequencing system are provided herein. The system can include a low-volume flowcell having at least one reaction chamber of a defined volume (e.g., less than about 100 µl). The system can also include an automated reagent delivery mechanism configured to reversibly couple with the inlet port corresponding to a target reaction chamber thereby placing allowing for reagent to be accurately moved from a storage container to the reaction chamber with minimal reagent waste. The flowcells can include a plurality of reaction chambers (e.g., 6) thereby allowing for parallel analysis of multiple samples. Various methods of analyzing a biomolecule are also provided herein.
Abstract:
In the present invention, time information is sent through a common power line in executing home automation devices or using various industrial equipments. In the power line broadcasting, a small amount of data, such as time information, is transmitted unidirectionally, and long-distance power line broadcasting can be possible using carriers of a low frequency band. time setting for various instruments is automatically performed in response to a power signal after a breakdown of electric current, making unnecessary a user's action to perform the time setting, and the existing power line can be used without change.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of the teachings relate to a system or method for sample preparation or analysis in biochemical or molecular biology procedures. The sample preparation can involve small volume processed in discrete portions or segments or slugs, herein referred to as discrete volumes. A molecular biology procedure can be nucleic acid analysis. Nucleic acid analysis can be an integrated DNA amplification/DNA sequencing procedure.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a thread for use in plastic surgery, which is made of a polymer having excellent elasticity and resilience and has open pores on the surface thereof. The disclosed surgical thread is made of polyorganosiloxane, such as dimethylsiloxane or a derivative or copolymer thereof, having excellent elasticity and resilience and suitable for grafting, thus can move integrally with skin tissue upon the contraction and relaxation of muscles, and has formed on the surface thereof open pores instead of sharp protrusions, such that it can be easily infiltrated with tissue cells after surgical operations. Also, the surgical thread shows no side effect after surgical operations, can be used semi-permanently, and can give satisfaction to patients, thus greatly improving surgical lifting or sling effects.
Abstract:
Various embodiments described in the application relate to an apparatus, system, and method for generating, within a conduit, discrete volumes of one or more fluids that are immiscible with a second fluid. The discrete volumes can be used for biochemical or molecular biology procedures involving small volumes, for example, microliter-sized volumes, nanoliter-sized volumes, or smaller. The system can comprise an apparatus comprising at least one conduit operatively connected to one or more pumps for providing discrete volumes separated from one another by a fluid that is immiscible with the fluid(s) of the discrete volumes, for example, aqueous immiscible-fiuid-discrete volumes separated by an oil.

Abstract:
The present teachings relate to methods of purifying, isolating, separating, and identifying target nucleic acids. In some embodiments of the present teachings, an affinity moiety can be incorporated into one of the flanking primers of a nucleic acid amplification reaction primer pair. The reaction mixture can be contacted with a binding moiety specific for the affinity moiety, thereby allowing immobilization of the double stranded amplification product, separation of reaction components lacking the affinity moiety, and isolation of the target nucleic acid strand. Further, one of the flanking primers of the nucleic acid amplification reaction can comprise a label and a mobility modifier, thereby facilitating identification of the target nucleic acids. In some embodiments, the amplification reaction is multiplexed and comprises polymorphic microsatellites useful in human identification and the manufacturing of molecular size standards. Some embodiments of the present teachings provide for improved methods of performing electrokinetic injection.
