Abstract:
A"faux stainless steel" may be produced by processing galvanized carbon steel through a temper mill using textured rolls to develop a "polished" type surface. The galvanized coating is not removed by abrasion but is compressed thereby providing a more uniform substrate than conventional polishing or brushing. The resulting strip may then be coated with an organic film to provide additional appearance and corrosion benefits including anti-fingerprint resistance.
Abstract:
Sheet metal plate (10) for creating flooring, particularly of industrial vehicles, over which trucks are to run, having a plurality of patterns, the maximum height of said reliefs ranging between 0.2 and 1.5 mm, said reliefs having a friction surface which has a mean width of at least 1 mm, in which said reliefs are arranged in a plurality of aligned groups of reliefs all of the same shape, the same orientation, and with their centres of gravity substantially aligned in one and the same given direction (D), the minimum distance, measured in said direction (D), between two adjacent reliefs of one and the same aligned group being less than 6 mm. The direction (D) in which the aligned groups are aligned advantageously coincides with the direction (De) in which the trucks run. A test measuring vibration can be used to characterize the ability of the sheet metal plate to emit noise of low intensity without the need to resort to acoustic pressure measurements on industrial vehicles. For preference, this is a sheet metal plate produced by rolling with a final pass over an engraved cylinder.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a tube (1) made of a profile rolled metal product, in particular for use in heat exchangers, a rolled metal product and a method of producing the same. The tube (1) includes a first wall (2) and a second wall (4) forming two opposing sides of the tube, and a plurality of reinforcing structures connecting the first and second walls (2, 4) and forming longitudinal passages (10) between them. Each reinforcing structure is formed by a longitudinal ridge (6) on the first wall (2) projecting towards the second wall (4) and a longitudinal ridge (8) on the second wall (4) protecting towards the first wall (2). The ridges (6, 8) are joined to each other at their sides.

Abstract:
The invention features a method for priming a hard metal surface (12), in particular bare or coated steel, characterised in that it consists of applying, continuously and with a determined pressure on the hard metal surface (12), a woven yarn fabric (11) made of fibres or threads and comprising a structure corresponding to the roughness required on the said hard metal surface (12). The invention also features a device for implementing the method.
Abstract:
Method of producing metal sheets or strips by rolling a metal sheet or strip through cold rolling mills, characterized in that at least two work rolls (2) are textured according to a surface pattern consisting in a regular deterministic bidimensional pattern in the form of unit cells of spots, said spot being obtained through an electron beam irradiation (12) and in that the wavelengths in the longitudinal direction [ lambda L] of the rolls and in the transverse direction [ lambda L] of the rolls are less than 1.5 mm.
Abstract:
Dimples (2) are formed on the peripheral surface of a cooling drum (1) for casting a thin cast piece by applying laser beams (10a) having a wavelength ranging from 0.30 to 1.07 mu m onto said surface while rotating said cooling drum on the axis thereof. At this time, an oscillation cycle of laser beam and at least one of a laser output and a beam divergence angle are controlled. In this way, dimples (2) are each formed to be 50 mu m or more in depth and 500 mu m or under in diameter, and the center-to-center distance between adjoining dimples ranges from 1.05 to 5 times the dimple diameter. In this case, execution of at least one of modulation of oscillation cycle of laser beam and scanning of the drum peripheral surface with laser beams in the direction of drum axis causes irregular dispersion of 20 % or under in distribution density of dimples. Thus, corrugations (5) are prevented from occurring on the surface of molten metal (4) in contact with the drum (1) when casting a thin piece, thereby enabling continuous casting of thin cast pieces satisfactory in surface properties.
