The present invention relates to a roofing underlayment system comprising two layers of a coated structural article which comprises a substrate having an ionic charge coated with a coating having essentially the same ionic charge or one layer of such coated structural article in combination with one layer of felt material. The coating of the coated structural article consists essentially of a filler material and a binder material wherein the binder material bonds the filler material together and to the substrate and wherein the coating does not bleed through the substrate. The roofing underlayment system of the present invention can impart a Class B or better (Class A) fire rating to a roof assembly.

The invention further provides a process for producing a treated textile material comprising the steps of (a) providing a textile material having a surface, (b) providing a suspension comprising a medium and at least one particulate component, the particulate component exhibiting a positive surface charge when suspended in an aqueous medium, (c) applying the suspension to at least a portion of the surface of the textile material, and (d) heating the textile material to remove the medium from the textile material and produce a finish comprising the particulate component on the surface of the textile material.

A method for fabricating fiber-reinforced composite structures, including centrifuge rotors (160), by resin transfer molding (RTM) is disclosed. The method involves loading reinforcing fibers into a mold (140) and then injecting resin into the mold (140) to coat the fibers to form the composite structure. Two types of reinforcing fibers are used - fabric preforms (12, 14, 16, 18, 20) at the surfaces of the structure and chopped fibers at the interior of the structure. Also disclosed is a fiber-reinforced composite structure comprising a skin layer of reinforcing fabric, chopped fibers distributed throughout the interior of the structure, and epoxy resin that binds the fabric and chopped fibers together into a fiber-reinforced composite structure. The resin transfer molding method is especially useful for fabricating composite centrifuge rotors (160).

The invention relates to a stab-resisting material, which material consists of a carrier coated with solid particles, which is provided on a packet of fabrics, wherein the coating on said carrier consists of abrasive particles having a diameter of 0.1 - 3 mm, and wherein the packet of fabrics is thicker than 1.5 mm. The invention also relates to the coated carrier, wherein the abrasive particles have been provided on the carrier by means of an adhesive, which forms an elastic film after curing. In particular a fabric made of Aramid or Nylon3 fibres may be used as the carrier material. The preferred adhesive is a bituminous adhesive or an adhesive with a base of polyurethane. This material is used in particular in protective clothing.

The interply material is attached adjacent to an edge of the roofing material to pen-nit a major portion of the interply material to be folded away from the roofing material for application to a roof. The adhesive is effective to secure the roofing product to the roof without the use of nails or other fasteners. The roofing material may be a roofing shingle or roll roofing, and the interply material is comprised of a water resistant material.
