Abstract:
Pd(II)-catalyzed g-G(sp3)-H arylation or heteroarylation of primary amines is realized by using 2-hydroxynicotinaldenyde as a catalytic transient directing group. Importantly, the catalyst and the directing group loading can be lowered to 2% and 4% respectively, thus demonstrating high efficiency of this newly designed transient directing group. Heterocyclic aryl iodides are also compatible with this reaction. Furthermore, swift synthesis of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthyridine derivatives is accomplished using this reaction.
Abstract:

Abstract:
RhlR modulators including agonist and antagonists which are useful for modulating QS phenotypes in Gram-negative bacteria. Certain compounds of general formula A-W-HG having various carbocyclic ad heterocyclic head groups (HG) and various tail groups (A), where -W- is -CO-NH-, -SO 2 -NH-, -CO-NH-CH 2 -, or -SO 2 -NH-CH 2 - are RhlR agonists or antagonists. The compounds are useful in methods of modulating quorum sensing in Gram-negative bacteria, particularly in Pseudomonas . Compositions including certain RhlR modulators are useful for decreasing the virulence of Gram-negative bacteria. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising certain RhlR modulators are useful for treatment of infections of Gram-negative bacteria.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for recovering dicyclopentadiene from pygas are provided. Methods can include heating pygas to generated heated pygas, recovering a C 5 fraction from the heated pygas, and dimerizing cyclopentadiene from the C 5 fraction to form dicyclopentadiene. Methods can further include recovering the C 5 fraction from the pygas in a depentanizer column. Other methods can include heating pygas including dicyclopentadiene to form cyclopentadiene and hydrogenating cyclopentadiene in the pygas to form cyclopentane.
