Abstract: Provided herein are methods of making an adsorbent bed useful as a micro-reactor, or a catalytic and/or separation device. The adsorbent bed comprises a metal-organic framework composite. In the present methods, one or more metal-organic frameworks in powder form are mixed in a liquid to produce a metal-organic framework suspension or other type of metal-organic framework coating. A monolith is coated with the suspension or coating to provide the metal-organic framework composite having at least one metal-organic framework coating layer deposited on and bounded to the monolith. The metal-organic framework composite produced has a BET surface area of about 1 m2/g to about 300 m2/g and/or a comparative BET surface area of about 40% to about 100% relative to the metal-organic framework monolith, and pore size between about 1 nm and about 50 nm.

Abstract: Isomerization of normal paraffins to form branched paraffins may be complicated by significant cracking of C7+ paraffins under isomerization reaction conditions. This issue may complicate upgrading of hydrocarbon feeds having significant quantities of heavier normal paraffins. Cracking selectivity may be decreased by combining one or more naphthenic compounds with a feed mixture comprising at least one C7+ normal paraffin and/or by utilizing tungstated zirconium catalysts having decreased tungsten loading. Further, C5 and C6 normal paraffins may undergo isomerization in the presence of C7+ normal paraffins. Methods for isomerizing normal paraffins may comprise: providing a feed mixture comprising at least C5-C7 normal paraffins and lacking normal paraffins larger than C8; and contacting the feed mixture with a bifunctional mixed metal oxide catalyst under isomerization reaction conditions effective to form a product mixture comprising one or more branched paraffins formed from each of the C5-C7 normal paraffins.

Abstract: Crystalline support materials are provided that can serve as supports for polyamines. The support materials have a combination of properties that unexpectedly allows supported polyamines to retain an increased or maximized amount of CO2 sorption capacity after incorporation of substantial amounts of the polyamine on the support material. This combination of properties can include having a high pore volume, a high ratio of mesopore volume to micropore volume, and a sufficiently high acidity. The ability to allow supported amine sorbents to retain additional CO2 sorption capacity is unexpected. Conventionally, even when high pore volume support materials are used to support an amine sorbent, only a limited amount of the amine sorbent can be supported on the support material before substantial losses of sorbent capacity occur relative to the amount of amine sorbent.
