摘要: A filling apparatus for filling a microplate. The microplate having a plurality of wells each sized to receive an assay. The filling apparatus can comprise an output layer having a plurality of capillaries. Each of the plurality of capillaries can comprise an inlet and an outlet. A funnel member can comprise a first assay chamber and a first outlet in fluid communication with the first assay chamber. A first porous member can be disposed at an the first outlet to deliver a first fluid bead of the assay along a top surface of the output layer and in fluid communication with at least some of the plurality of capillaries such that a portion of the fluid bead is drawn within at least some of the plurality of capillaries in response to capillary force. The funnel member and the output layer can be moveable relative to each other between a first position and a second position to draw the first fluid bead across the top surface.

摘要: Devices, assemblies, systems and methods described herein enable detection of as few as a single copy of a target nucleic acid molecule. Polynucleotides copied from a single or a small number of target nucleotide(s) within regions near to an initial copying site may be detected by optical or other methods as disclosed herein. Devices, assemblies and systems may comprise probes and/or primer molecules. Systems comprising optical assemblies, thermal assemblies and reaction assemblies (having reaction chambers for amplification of target nucleic acid molecules) are provided in which used reaction assemblies may be replaced to provide reusable devices. Systems comprising analytical assemblies and detection assemblies are provided in which an assay cartridge having assay chambers may engage a thermal assembly for amplification of target nucleic acid molecules. These devices, systems and methods offer the advantages of detection of as few as a single copy of a target nucleic acid molecule.

摘要: A system is disclosed for independently attaining, monitoring, and dispensing a fluid mix or a plurality of fluid mixes of a desired temperature, flow rate, and volume, the fluid mixes each comprising two separate mixable fluids usually at different temperatures as they enter the system. The system comprises one microprocessor configuration connected with any number of fluid mixing apparatuses including their drive means, sensors, and an appropriate number of user command and system status feedback means. In one embodiment, as disclosed herein, a plurality of system users can independently and even simultaneously instruct, using a variety of means, a single microprocessor configuration to provide their desired fluid mixes. The microprocessor configuration compares the instructions with the system status data provided by the sensors and its own calculations. Whenever the data differs from the instructions, it causes the fluid mixing apparatuses' drive means to operate in such a way as to provide mixes which match the users' commands. Users are provided with system status information all the while.

摘要: An electroosmotic (EO) pump is provided that includes a housing having a pump cavity, a porous core medium and electrodes. The porous core medium is positioned within the pump cavity to form an exterior reservoir that extends at least partially about an exterior surface of the porous core medium. The porous core medium has an open inner chamber provided therein. The inner chamber represents an interior reservoir. The electrodes are positioned in the inner chamber and are positioned proximate the exterior surface. The electrodes induce flow of a fluid through the porous core medium between the interior and exterior reservoirs, wherein a gas is generated when the electrodes induce flow of the fluid. The housing has a fluid inlet to convey the fluid to one of the interior reservoir and the exterior reservoir. The housing has a fluid outlet to discharge the fluid from another of the interior reservoir and the exterior reservoir. The housing has a gas removal device to remove the gas from the pump cavity.
