Abstract: There is disclosed in one example a radio access network (RAN) user plane processing entity (UPPE) for a mobile data network, including: a hardware platform; a virtual switch to operate on the hardware platform; a network interface to communicatively couple to a local server; and a software defined networking controller, including a radio access network (RAN) control plane (CP) sniffer, and configured to: receive a control plane traffic offloading rule via a northbound interface, the traffic offloading rule configured to offload a class of traffic to the local server; operate the RAN CP sniffer to build a user-plane flow control message according to the offloading rule; and send the flow control message to the virtual switch.

Abstract: Techniques for a selection or reselection a user-plane path in a mobile network are disclosed herein. A user-plane gateway (GW-U) can be configured to decode a packet received from a control plane gateway (GW-C) in a packet data network gateway (PGW) to determine a forwarding policy. Additionally, the GW-U can decode, from an evolved node B (eNB), an internet protocol (IP) packet having a header field. Furthermore, the GW-U can determine a user-plane path for the IP packet based on a comparison of the header field and the forwarding policy. Based on the determined user-plane path, the GW-U can forward the IP packet to a local application server (AS), encapsulate and forward the IP packet to the PGW, or discard the IP packet. Moreover, the GW-U can encode the IP packet for transmission based on the determined user-plane selection.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate generally to efficient transmission of data over a radio network between a user equipment (“UE”) and a network node. The UE may adapt packets from TCP to a private protocol and transmit those data packets to the network node. The UE may use ARQ data from link layer circuitry to locally generate TCP ACK data for TCP layer circuitry. At the network node, the private-protocol data packets may be adapted to TCP and transmitted to a remote host over the Internet so that the TCP semantic may be maintained between the UE and the remote host. Abstract: Technologies for mobile content delivery include an edge computing device, a mobile terminal, and a content delivery network server. The edge computing device has a network location between the mobile terminal and a core network, and the content delivery network server is accessed through the core network. The edge computing device receives a content request from the mobile terminal and modifies the content request to identify the network location of a zone-specific proxy of the edge computing device. The edge computing device forwards the content response to the content delivery network server. The content delivery network server may send a content response to the zone-specific proxy or the mobile terminal. The content response identifies an address of a network content resource. The network content resource is located at a surrogate content delivery network server of the edge computing device. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

A CU-UP resource status response message from each of the plurality of CU-UP entities is decoded at the CU-CP entity. The resource status response message including resource availability information for the CU-UP entities. A CU-UP entity is selected by the CU-CP entity from the plurality of CU-UP entities based on the resource availability information.
