A method and an apparatus are provided for a displaying a route in a first electronic device. A message is received from a second electronic device. First location information is identified in the received message. Based at least on identifying the first location information in the received message, the first location information is obtained from the received message for setting a destination location. Second location information of the first electronic device is obtained. Based at least on the obtained first location information from the received message and the obtained second location information of the first electronic device, a start location and the destination location are set. Based at least on obtaining route information between the start location and the destination location, a route representing the obtained route information between the start location and the destination location is displayed on a display of the first electronic device.

A key input control apparatus includes a gesture recognizing unit which detects whether or not an input of a touch event generated on a screen corresponds to a predetermined gesture. A gesture area identifying unit which identifies a predetermined area where the input of the touch event corresponding to the predetermined gesture is generated. A key input recognizing unit which recognizes a hardware key allotted to the predetermined area and performs an operation corresponding to an input of the recognized hardware key.

A user input for selecting the first message from a plurality of messages is received. Position information of the first electronic device is calculated. Route information between a start position and a destination position is received from a navigation server. The start position corresponds to the position information of the first electronic device and the destination position corresponds to the position information of the second electronic device. Based at least on receiving the route information from the navigation server, a route representing the received route information between the start position and the destination position is displayed on the first electronic device.

Based on analyzing the received message, first location information including address information inputted from a user of the second electronic device is identified in the received message. The first location information is obtained from the received message. Second location information of the first electronic device is obtained. A start location is set to the obtained second location information and the destination location is set to the selected address information. Based on obtaining route information between the start location and the destination location, a route representing the obtained route information between the start location and the destination location is displayed on a display of the first electronic device.
