Abstract:
Nanoparticle compositions and greaseless coatings are disclosed, including, for example, a greaseless lubricant nanoparticle coating on drill pipe threads. The lubricant coating may be multifunctional, including, for example, anti-corrosives. The coating may be a spray, or otherwise.
Abstract:
Compositions having a plurality of nanoparticles and nano-sheets are disclosed. Methods of making and using the compositions are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An anti-galling method for treating materials, which provides for subjecting at least one of the at least two components mutually coupled with at least one degree of freedom, made of metallic material, to a first preliminary step of thermal treatments to increase surface hardness and to a second preliminary step of surface grinding. The method further includes the steps of: washing at least one portion of the surface of the at least one component subjected previously to the preliminary steps; shot peening the at least one portion of the surface of the at least one component previously subjected to washing; and applying a layer of molybdenum disulfide to the at least one portion of the at least one component previously subjected to shot peening.
Abstract:
A scroll compressor which can be mounted in an automobile has a slide bearing resulting from baking onto a back metal a sliding layer of 5-60 wt % graphite having an average diameter of 5-50 μm and a graphitization degree of at least 0.6, the remainder containing a polyimide resin and/or a polyamide-imide resin. The form of the graphite has: (a) an average shape factor (YAVE) as defined of 1-4 for the particles excluding the minute particles that are no greater than 0.5 times the average diameter, and there being at least 70% by number of particles having a shape factor (Y) in the range of 1-1.5; or (b) graphite particles having a particle ratio of at least 0.5 being at least 50% of the total by number.
Abstract:
Forge lubrication processes are disclosed. A solid lubricant sheet is placed between a workpiece and a die in a forging apparatus. Force is applied to the workpiece with the die to plastically deform the workpiece. The solid lubricant sheet decreases the shear friction factor for the forging system and reduces the incidence of die-locking.
Abstract:
A coating of a metal sheet or strip comprising a lubricant and a protective base material is provided. The lubricant is contained in the protective base material, and the protective base material is at least in part selectively removable. There is also provided a metal sheet or strip capable of forming, in particular of superplastic forming, and having a coating according to the invention at least partially on one or on both sides of the metal sheet and a method for manufacturing a metal sheet or strip according to the invention comprising the steps of providing a metal sheet or strip capable of forming, in particular of superplastic forming, and applying a coating according to the invention.
Abstract:
A piston for internal combustion engines has a skirt coating consisting of a wear resistant inner layer consisting of a polymer matrix having ceramic particles, aramide fibers and/or carbon fibers dispersed therein and an outer layer consisting of a polymer matrix having solid lubricants dispersed therein and an outer layer consisting of a polymer matrix having solid lubricants dispersed therein.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods and systems for applying a coating to a non-ferrous or ferrous material that includes providing a material, a heat source, an immersion tank, and a drying environment. The material is placed within the heat source and heated to a temperature between the range of between about 204.44° C. to about 537.78° C. (400° F. to about 1000° F.). The material is immersed within an immersion containing a ratio of molybdenum disulfide solution to water of between about 2:1 to about 4:1 at a temperature between about 26.67° C. to about 48.89° C. (about 80° F. to 120° F.), and the material is dried at a temperature between about 51.67° C. to about 98.89° C. (125° F. and 210° F.).
Abstract:
The present invention aims to provide solid particles with improved lubrication, a solid lubricant including the solid particles, and a metal member including, on the surface thereof, the solid particles or the solid lubricant. The solid particles of the present invention include base particles and carbon fluoride particles attached to surfaces of the base particles.
