    摘要: A process for polymer coating of narrow strands, for example, wires with a polymer, is disclosed whereby a rapidly reacting polymer formulation is sprayed onto the narrow strands whereupon it hardens in a very short period of time and another layer of strands is then placed atop the first which have now been coated with the polymer and a second layer of polymer formulation is sprayed on these strands, etc. The polymer formulation used comprises amine terminated polyethers of greater than 1500 average molecular weight, having greater than 50% of their average hydrogens in the form of amine hydrogens, a chain extender and an aromatic polyisocyanate.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for applying a colorant material to the surface of a plastic insulation material which has been applied to an elongated material such as a metallic conductor (22) or an optical fiber which is being moved at any of a wide range of speeds along a path of travel. The colorant material is applied by nozzles which are staggered along the path of travel and which direct the colorant into engagement with the plastic insulation material at different radial directions. A first plurality of nozzles (46--46) each cause the colorant to be in a spray pattern (45) which is in the area of a plane. Advantageously, those nozzles cooperate to stabilize the conductor and prevent undulations thereof as the conductor is moved along its path of travel. A second plurality of nozzles (50--50) cause the colorant to be in a solid conical pattern (53). The first and the second pluralities of nozzles are effective to cause substantially all the surface area of the plastic insulation on successive increments of length of the conductor to be covered with the colorant material.

    摘要: Provided is a coating device and a method capable of coating a conductor of a plurality of electrical wires with coating material with simple configuration and of coating without exposing the conductor. A nozzle and a coating area of a terminal-equipped electrical wire are applied to voltage by a voltage applying unit such as to be electrified with polarity different from each other, and jetting jet liquid forms jet liquid over the whole coating area, forms the coating layer with anticorrosion material on a surface of the terminal-equipped electrical wire, and coats the coating area including a conductor with anticorrosion material without being exposed. Furthermore, it is possible to allow the nozzle jet the jet liquid and to move the nozzle in an arranging direction of the terminal-equipped electrical wire, and also to coat the coating area of the terminal-equipped electrical wire with anticorrosion material.

    摘要: A compound for spray application onto pulp insulation on an electrical conductor, the compound comprising between 5 and 9 parts by weight of polyvinylpyrrolidone polyvinylacetate copolymer with 0.5 to 0.9 parts by weight of a copper corrosion inhibitor and 1.0 to 3.0 parts of a plasticizer. The compound is useful either to repair damaged pulp regions or for spraying the pulp during manufacture of an insulated conductor without substantially reducing the electrical insulating characteristics of the pulp.
