Abstract:
The delivery of fuel into the combustion chamber of a diesel engine is aided by blowing in an amount of compressed air which is small compared to the stroke volume of the diesel engine after the stream of fuel has been injected into the combustion chamber via the fuel nozzle. In this way fuel particles which would otherwise remain in the injection nozzle and considerably increase the hydrocarbon content of the exhaust are removed from the nozzle and burned, at the same time clearing the nozzle holes of any remaining fuel. The compressed air blown in after fuel injection will assist combustion of the red-hot particles of the fuel stream which have formed immediately beyond the nozzle.

Abstract:
A circuit arrangement for monitoring the current supply of an electric consumer has a voltage regulator connected to an operating voltage that is variable over time and has a voltage monitor for switching on a consumer exclusively during the constant phase of the supply voltage. The voltage monitor is defined by a comparator at one input of which a reference voltage proportional to the regulator output voltage is present and at the other input of which a difference voltage picked up at the regulator output and exceeding a threshold value is present. A switch-on and switch-off signal can be take off at the comparator output.
Abstract:
A device for transmitting of binary data between a mobile data carrier (10) and a stationary station (11) is provided with a first resonance circuit (13) in the stationary station (11), whereby a switchable field effect transistor (25) is parallel switched to its condenser (17) by means of a switching pulse sequence, a second resonance circuit (12) in the data carrier (10) which is at least conductively coupled for a short time with the first resonance circuit (13). For the purpose of enlarging the inductively to be bridged distances between the resonance circuits (12,13) of data carrier (10) and stationary station (11) without impairing the operating safety during the data transmission the resonance circuit (13) in the stationary station (11) is designed in such a manner that its resonance frequency is about equal to the switching pulse sequence. The data transmission from the data carrier (10) to the stationary station (11) is performed by amplitude demodulation in the data carrier (10) and by amplitude demodulation in the stationary station (11). The data transmission from the stationary station (11) to the data carrier (10) is performed by frequency demodulation, whereby the frequency ratio is adjusted to 2:1.
Abstract:
A water cooled internal combustion engine which comprises a cylinder head cast integrally with both the cylinder block and the housing of an overhead camshaft, and which includes a cooling water room extending over all cylinders of the engine, a cooling water distributor channel extending in the longitudinal direction of the engine and arranged immediately above the exhaust ducts, which themselves extend transversely of the engine to an exterior cylinder head side wall, and jet bores communicating the distributor channel with the cooling water room of each cylinder.
Abstract:
A feed apparatus for elongated articles comprises a pair of endless helical springs having parallel spaced-apart reaches defining a generally horizontal transport path. The elongated elements are continuously displaced in a direction from an upstream end of the reaches to a downstream end thereof. Elongated articles such as gelatin capsules are loaded in random fashion onto the reaches at the upstream end so that at least some of these articles come to lie in the trough defined between these reaches, that is aligned parallel to the transport direction. The misaligned capsules fall off the upper reaches onto a return transport mechanism which automatically transports them back to the upstream end of forward transport mechanism.
Abstract:
An internal combustion engine with an encasing surrounding the outer surfaces of the engine in spaced relation thereto, with a cooling-air inlet and a cooling-air outlet and a blower arranged within the encasing, the suction end of said blower communicating with the cooling-air inlet through an interposed air filter, the delivery end of the blower communicating with the cooling-air outlet.
Abstract:
A test instrument for analyzing body fluids such as blood or urine. The instrument includes a wound test tape which can be transported from a storage space into a waste space by advancing the tap. The test tape has a plurality of test sections to which body fluid can be applied at a receiving position and also includes a measuring unit for detecting a constituent of the body fluid on an active test section. In order to carry out auxiliary instrument functions, in addition to the test sections, the test tape has one or more functional sections which can be brought into a functional position by advancing the tape.
Abstract:
A puncturing system has a carrier tape carrying multiple lancets, a device housing comprising a conveying facility for moving the lancets into a usage position consecutively by moving the carrier tape in a conveying direction, a puncturing drive for accelerating one of the lancets that is positioned in the usage position in a puncturing motion, an opening in the device housing for touching against a body part in which a puncture is to be made by the puncturing motion of one of the lancets, an actuation facility for driving the conveying facility, and an unlockable interlock comprising a stop that blocks further transport of the carrier tape as soon as one of the lancets has reached the usage position.
Abstract:
A sampling element (110) for generating a sample of a body fluid is disclosed. The sampling element (110) comprises a housing (114), the housing having a chamber (122) with at least one puncture element (112) stored therein. A tip (132) of the puncture element (112) is movable through at least one puncture opening (124) of the housing (114) in order to perforate a skin portion of a user. The sampling element (110) further comprises at least one compression element (150), which is adapted to increase a pressure of the body fluid within a body tissue of the user in a region of puncturing when pressed onto the skin portion of the user. The compression element (150) is movably mounted to the housing (114). The sampling element (110) comprises at least one locking mechanism (168) for releasably locking the compression element (150) in at least two positions. The at least two positions comprise a first position (170) and a second position (172), the second position (172) being offset from the first position (170).In a further aspect of the invention, an analytical device (204) is disclosed, the analytical device (204) being adapted for using the sampling element (110) of the invention.
