摘要: In some embodiments, a DFE including: an input terminal configured to receive an input signal carrying a plurality of symbols; an adder circuit coupled to the input terminal of the DFE; a plurality of comparator circuits configured to receive respective threshold signals; a plurality of slicer circuits coupled to respective comparator circuits of the plurality of comparator circuits; and a plurality of multiplier circuits coupled to respective slicer circuits of the plurality of slicer circuits, the plurality of multiplier circuits configured to multiply respective correction coefficients of a plurality of correction coefficients times respective outputs of respective slicer circuits to produce respective multiplication results of a plurality of multiplication results, where: the adder circuit is configured to subtract the plurality of multiplication results from the input signal, and the plurality of correction coefficients are independently adjusted based on a previously received symbol.

摘要: A backscatter tag communicate device includes, in part, a receiver configured to receive a WiFi packet conforming to a communication protocol defining a multitude of codewords, a mapper configured to map at least a first subset of the multitude of codewords disposed in the packet to a second multitude of codewords defined by the protocol, and a frequency shifter configured to shift a frequency of the second multitude of codewords such that the frequency shifted codewords are characterized by a single sideband spectrum. The communication protocol may be the 802.11b communication protocol. The mapper may optionally map the first subset of the multitude of codewords by changing phases of the first subset of the multitude of codewords.

摘要: A high data rate, high sensitivity, low power optical link using low-bandwidth components and low-bandwidth E/O drivers and receivers and method of building same. The method is based on the idea of making the optical part of the link look like a bandwidth limited lossy electrical channel, so that the powerful equalization methods used in the wireline electrical links can be applied to recover the transmitted data in a situation with low bandwidth and/or high loss and strong inter-symbol interference. Linear and non-linear optical channel components, E/O drivers and receivers can benefit from the apparatus and the methods of the invention.

摘要: A digital television (DTV) receiving system includes an information detector, a resampler, a timing recovery unit, and a carrier recovery unit. The information detector detects a known data sequence which is periodically inserted in a digital television (DTV) signal received from a DTV transmitting system. The resampler resamples the DTV signal at a predetermined resampling rate. The timing recovery unit performs timing recovery on the DTV signal by detecting a timing error from the resampled DTV signal using the detected known data sequence. The carrier recovery unit performs carrier recovery on the resampled DTV signal by estimating a frequency offset value of the resampled DTV signal using the detected known data sequence.

摘要: A method may generate a demodulated sine component for a sequence of samples of a servo burst window of a position error signal using a sine weight look up table and generate a demodulated cosine component for the sequence of samples of the servo burst window of the position error signal using a cosine weight look up table. The sine weight and the cosine weight look up tables may have indexes representing a phase range. The method may generate a demodulated phase component signal and a demodulated amplitude component signal for the sequence of samples of the servo burst window of the position error signal based on the demodulated sine component and the demodulated cosine component using a Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer at least in part by iteratively rotating a vector based on the demodulated sine component and the demodulated cosine component and summing angular changes in the vector.

摘要: The trans-filter compresses in band AWGN, demodulates input signals and has no threshold due to applied noise. Two frequency selective networks with opposite amplitude vs frequency slopes are designed to remain 180 degrees out of phase over the signal band. Output amplitudes are equal at band center and are summed producing a monotonic amplitude vs frequency characteristic going thru zero at center frequency with abrupt phase reversal. This produces the parabolic output noise density and differentiates applied signals. Absence of nonlinear circuit components and product devices prevents generation of noise×noise products, avoiding the threshold phenomenon. Exponentially modulated digital signals produce output impulses due to the slope and abrupt phase reversal. The impulses have strong fundamental frequency components and may be recovered at baseband without frequency conversion. Cascading trans-filters increases noise reduction and impulse amplitude. The trans-filter algorithm may be used separately or in conjunction with one or more hardware trans-filters.
