摘要: A system and/or process for alkylating hydrocarbons which includes an improved method of safely handling alkylation catalyst is disclosed. The process includes passing the alkylation catalyst from a settler vessel to a catalyst receiving vessel, via a catalyst cooler, for containment therein in the presence of a condensible gas. Also disclosed is a method for controlling the pressure in the catalyst receiving vessel by controlling the rate of removal of vapors.

摘要: A method for isobutane alkylation is provided wherein a fixed-bed catalytic alkylation reactor comprises at least one catalytic flow channel. A feed stream comprising a compound to be alkylated admixed with a minor amount of an olefin is introduced into the flow channel wherein the flow channel is of sufficiently long configuration to have a mass-transfer-limiting boundary layer. The feed stream is contacted with a catalyst positioned on an inner surface of the flow channel thereby reacting the compound with the olefinto produce an alkylate product.

摘要: Improved methods for conducting solid acid-catalyzed, near- or supercritical heterogeneous chemical reactions (e.g., alkylation reactions) are provided which give enhanced product yields and permit longer processing runs. The preferred reactions of the invention are carried out in the presence of a solid macroporous catalyst having a surface area of from about 50-400 m2/g and a pore size of from about 70-150 Å. Product selectivity is enhanced by pressure-tuning of the reaction to promote production and separation of desired reaction products. In continuous processing, the chemical reaction may be interrupted before significant catalyst deactivation, followed by increasing reactor pressure and/or reducing reactor temperature to remove the accumulating coke; when the catalyst is regenerated, the original reaction conditions and reactant introduction may be resumed.

摘要: Paraffins or other hydrocarbons are alkylated in a process featuring a reaction zone containing a pool of liquid maintained at its boiling point and containing a suspended solid catalyst, which allows the heat of reaction to vaporize a portion of the liquid phase feed hydrocarbon. The vapor phase withdrawn from the top of the reaction zone is at least partially recycled to the reaction zone either as vapor or liquid. The feed hydrocarbons are introduced to the bottom of the reaction zone as a vapor phase stream, which may contain hydrogen. The catalyst is suspended within the liquid in the reaction zone.

摘要: The use of flow restrictors at the inlet of reactor cooling tubes significantly improves heat transfer and process performance in an acid catalyzed alkylation reaction process. Improved vaporization of the stream is achieved by equalizing the liquid distribution and the ratio of liquid and vapor entering each tube to overcome poor boiling film heat transfer. The invention relocates available pressure drop for equally subdividing the flow entering the heat exchanger into a plurality of heat exchanger inlet streams. Flow restrictors provide pressure drop at the inlets to each tube. This method and apparatus is particularly useful in contactors for the sulfuric acid catalyzed alkylation of olefinic and isoparaffinic hydrocarbons.
