Abstract: A method is provided for estimating input torque and output torque in a continuously variable transmission having a variator. The method comprising the steps of determining (202) a transmission input and/or output speed, calculating (204) the speed of each of a plurality of transmission components by reflecting the transmission input and/or output speed through the transmission to each of the plurality of transmission components, and calculating (208) the speed rate of change of each of the plurality of transmission components. The inertia torque of each of the plurality of transmission components is calculated (210) based upon its respective speed rate of change and a predetermined component inertia value (209). The method further comprises the steps of determining (211) a motor torque of the variator, and calculating (212) a transmission input torque and transmission output torque by reflecting the motor torque of the variator through the transmission to the transmission input and output. The calculated transmission input and output torque values are adjusted (214) to account for the calculated inertia torque values of those of the plurality of transmission components which lie between the variator and the transmission input, and the variator and the transmission output, respectively.

Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a method of reducing output torque deficits during the launch of a vehicle having a continuously variable transmission, wherein the variator has an input connected to a prime mover and an output. The method comprises the steps of determining a rate of change of ratio in the transmission, and predicting a required motor speed ratio rate of change value of the variator on the basis of: (i) the determined rate of change of ratio in the transmission, and (ii) the configuration of the transmission. The speed of the variator output is adjusted so as to achieve the required motor speed ratio rate of change value.

Abstract: An aftertreatment assembly for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The assembly includes an aftertreatment component with an inlet, and a pipe connection fluidly connected to the inlet. The pipe connection includes an adjustable spherical pipe joint that joins two angularly offset pipe sections, and a slip pipe joint that joins two axially aligned pipe sections and that can adjust a combined length of the two axially aligned pipe sections. The assembly allows for compensating the positional and orientational displacements between an exhaust outlet and the inlet of the aftertreatment assembly.

Abstract: An emissions cleaning module is provided including a first support, a second support and a mixer module. The mixer module extends between the first support and the second support. The mixer module includes an outer body and an inner body located within the outer body. In addition the outer body is fixedly retained to the first support and the second support. Abstract: A method of controlling a valve assembly includes calculating, by a controller of the valve assembly, one or more electrical signals to move a valve element of the valve assembly dependent on an actual and a desired position of the valve element. The method also includes sending, by the controller, the one or more electrical signals to an electrical actuator of the valve assembly. The method further includes detecting a valve fault condition defined as the actual position of the valve element failing to match the desired position of the valve element after a configurable period has elapsed. When the valve fault condition is detected, the method includes substituting the data corresponding to the desired position of the valve element with pulses of waveform data which oscillate about a value corresponding to the desired position of the valve element until either of two predetermined conditions is met.
