Abstract: An example network system includes network interfaces, a data repository, a forwarding structure, a service element, and a forwarding element. The forwarding element is configured to receive a first packet having header information via a tunnel over the first network with one of the networking interfaces, pass the first packet to the service element, receive a second packet from the service element, and forward the second packet via the network interfaces to the second network, wherein the first packet conforms to the first network-layer protocol, and wherein the second packet conforms to the second network-layer protocol. The service element is configured to transform the first packet from a format conforming with the first network-layer protocol into the second packet having a format conforming with the second network-layer protocol, and direct the second packet to the forwarding element.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods for arranging list elements (e.g., results returned by a user search) according to anticipated “impact.” Thumbnails of the top elements are displayed on a screen of the user's device, with the size of each thumbnail related to that result's anticipated impact. In some embodiments, the arrangement of these thumbnails on the display screen is also based on the anticipated impacts with larger thumbnails placed near the center of the screen and successively smaller thumbnails arranged farther away. Different embodiments may calculate the anticipated impacts differently. The impact can be related to the rank order as assigned by a search engine. Any information about the user's current situation can go into the calculation of the anticipated impact. When the user is searching for information, longer video results may be assigned a larger anticipated impact because they are more likely to contain the wanted information.

Abstract: A method and a system are provided for capturing a future location of a user. In one example, the system receives user data including plans for one or more future locations of one or more users. The system identifies a particular user who is associated with one or more users who plan to go to a particular future location. The system then provides to a particular user device a suggestion for the particular user to be at the particular future location. The particular user device is presumably operated by the particular user.

Abstract: Generally described, aspects of the disclosed subject matter are directed to managing the configuration of a vehicle. In accordance with one embodiment, a method of modifying the configuration of a vehicle based on the vehicle's location is provided. The method includes receiving, from a remote Satellite Positioning System (“SPS”) device, positioning data that identifies the location of the vehicle. Then, the positioning data is used to identify one or more regulations that are applicable, given the location of the vehicle. Based on collected vehicle readings, a determination is made regarding whether the configuration of the vehicle should be modified. In turn, the method may cause the configuration of the vehicle to be modified to comply with the one or more regulations.

Abstract: A method and system for bidding on multiple auctions. The multiple auction bidding system allows a user to define various models for bidding at multiple auctions. The bidding system then automatically places bids on behalf of the user. The bidding rules may specify to win at most one of multiple auctions at the lowest price or to bid at an auction only if successful at bidding at another auction.
