    摘要: A converter that records or reproduces information to or from a recording medium while making a movement relative to the recording medium is mounted on a slider. The slider has at least a pair of openings on a side face thereof, and airflow generated by the movement relative to the recording medium flows in via one of the paired openings, passes in a vicinity of a surface of the converter other than a surface thereof facing the recording medium, and thereafter flows out via the other one of the paired openings. With this, the ability to cool the converter is improved.

    摘要: The present invention provides a cleaning disk and a magneto-optical disk drive apparatus being simple in structure, adaptable to cleaning disks having various specifications, low in power consumption, low in electromagnetic noise, and preventing damage to the magnetic head and the optical head; the cleaning disk comprises a magneto-optical disk having an information layer, and a head-cleaning member, provided on the magneto-optical disk, for cleaning the magnetic head of the magneto-optical disk drive apparatus, wherein information regarding a magnetic head cleaning condition for setting the operation condition of the magneto-optical disk drive apparatus during cleaning of the magnetic head has been recorded in advance on the information layer of the magneto-optical disk. The magneto-optical disk drive apparatus reads the information regarding the magnetic head cleaning condition so as to set the operation condition properly.

The eyepiece optical system is constructed and arranged to bend the optical axis using reflecting surfaces so as to be compact. The image observation optical system can be made compact enough to be usable as an image display unit for a cellular phone or a portable intelligent terminal, and can achieve high image definition and wide field angle while controlling chromatic aberration of magnification to be small.

    摘要: An optical disc clamp mechanism that is capable of selectively playing back either of a compact disc or a mini disc. The clamp mechanism includes a circular disc receiving section for contacting a reference surface of either of the compact disc or the mini disc and further includes a magnetic clamp unit for clamping the mini disc by magnetic attraction with a magnetically attractable member of the mini disc. A first conical or spherical taper cone portion for engaging the center hole of the mini disc is mounted to the disc receiving section and a second conical or spherical taper cone portion for engaging the center hole of the compact disc is mounted to the disc receiving section. The first taper cone portion is located inwardly of the second taper cone portion and protrudes from the second taper cone portion in the axial direction. The magnetic clamp unit further includes a stopper element for preventing detachment of the first and second taper cone portions from the disc receiving section. Accordingly, the optical disc clamp mechanism independently affects the centering of a mini disc and a compact disc to allow either of the discs to be centered.

    摘要: An optical head is mounted in an optical disk apparatus that optically records or reproduces information on or from an information recording medium having a magnetooptical effect. The optical head includes a laser diode for emitting a P-polarized beam and a first hologram element on which the P-polarized beam is incident and which diffracts the P-polarized beam more in zeroth order than in higher orders but diffracts an S-polarized beam perpendicular to the P-polarized beam more in higher orders than in zeroth order. The zeroth order P-polarized beam emitted from the laser diode is focused on the information recording medium by the first hologram element or an objective lens interposed between the first hologram element and the information recording medium. One or more second hologram elements are placed between the first hologram element and the laser diode and split a beam reflected from the information recording medium and then diffracted by the first hologram element into beams having respective planes of polarization perpendicular to each other. A plurality of optical detectors for detecting the beams transmitted through the second hologram elements are disposed in line with the laser diode.

    摘要: An impurity diffusion method which can control a surface atomic concentration from a low to a high surface atomic concentration with a good uniformity is provided. Natural oxide is removed from the surface of a semiconductor substrate with a deoxidizing atmosphere gas as a diffusion atmosphere gas in advance, and then an impurity gas is passed thereto, while passing the deoxidizing atmosphere gas thereto, thereby conducting the diffusion. Flow rate or concentration of impurity of the impurity gas is so set that the impurity atomic concentration of the diffusion layer can be controlled by the flow rate or the concentration of impurity of the impurity gas. The impurity atomic concentration of the diffusion layer can be controlled by adjusting the flow rate or concentration of impurity of the impurity gas, and a diffusion layer having a low impurity atomic concentration can be formed. A shallow junction having a depth of not more than 50 nm can be formed.

    摘要: An objective lens actuator drives an objective lens in a radial direction of a disklike recording medium parallel to a face of the recording medium and in a direction of an optical axis vertical to the face of the recording medium such that information can be optically written on or read from the recording medium. The objective lens actuator includes a substantially U-shaped lens holder at an approximately central portion of which the objective lens is supported, a pair of drive members for driving the lens holder, which are provided at opposite end portions of the lens holder, respectively, a base member, and four rodlike elastic members supporting the lens holder. Each of the elastic members has one end fixed to the base member. The other end of each of two of the elastic members is fixed to a distal portion of a first leg of the lens holder adjacent the base member. The other end of each of the other two elastic members is fixed to a proximal portion of a second leg of the lens holder remote from the base member.
