摘要: An optical data processing apparatus reads and/or writes data from/on a data storage medium, in which first and second data storage layer are stacked, by radiating light from the second layer. The processor includes: a light detector including at least one photodetector for generating a light quantity signal; a detecting optical system for guiding first and second reflected light beams from the first and second layers to the light detector; and a signal processor for generating a layer sensing signal from the light quantity signal and determining, by the layer sensing signal, whether the focal spot is now located near the first layer or the second layer. The detecting optical system includes an optical element that produces astigmatism to the first and second reflected beams. The light detector includes, as the at least one photodetector, a layer sensing photodetector arranged so as to include respective areas of the light detector where the second reflected beam is incident when the focal spot is located near the first layer and where the first reflected beam is incident when the focal spot is located near the second layer.

摘要: On a pit information surface (22d) of a read-only optical disk (22), a protective layer (22f) suited for a floating-type or a sliding-type magnetic head (3) used for a magnetic field modulation type magneto-optical disk is formed. A reproducing operation with respect to the optical disk (22) is performed while allowing the magnetic head (3) to slide on the protective layer (22f). Accordingly, a magnetic head does not need to be separated from a disk in reproduction. Thus, an optical disk device can be manufactured at lower cost and reduced in size, and a high-speed seek can be realized. Commonality of a disk cartridge (32) with the magnetic field modulation type magneto-optical disk also can be achieved. An optical disk system that is user-friendly thus can be obtained.

摘要: A transistor is formed on a bonded SOI substrate. A collector electrode is connected to the peripheral sides of the collector areas on the insulator. A first insulator of isolation is formed on the peripheral side of the collector electrode. A base electrode is connected to a base area on the first insulator of isolation. Second insulators of isolation are formed on the peripheral side of a base electrode, and emitter electrode is connected to an emitter area by the second insulators of isolation. The connections between the collector electrode and the collector areas, between the base electrode and the base area, and between the emitter electrode and the emitter area are made under the emitter electrode, so the occupation area is small.

摘要: An optical head equipped with a tracking error detector to obtain a tracking error signal for tracking servo. The detector includes a photodetector having a light-detecting region on which a light spot with a predetermined diameter is formed by a reflected light beam from a recording medium. The region is divided by a first division line into two which are further divided by second and third division lines so as to form first to fourth subregions, the first and second subregions being adjacent to each other with the first division line being interposed therebetween, the third subregion being adjacent to the first subregion, and the fourth subregion being adjacent to the second subregion. The separation between the second and third division lines is determined so that the sum of the light receiving quantities of the first and fourth subregions is substantially equal to the sum of the light receiving quantities of the second and third subregions when the objective lens is shifted from its neutral position. Electric signals produced in correspondance with the light receiving quantities are supplied to a differential amplifier to take a difference between a sum signal of the signals due to the first and fourth subregions and a sum signal of the signals due to the second and third subregions.
