摘要: The present invention generally relates to microfluidics and more particularly to the design of customized microfluidic systems using a microfluidic computer aided design system. In one embodiment of the present invention a microfluidic circuit design method is provided. The method includes developing synthesizable computer code for a design. Next, a microfluidic circuit schematic, including a plurality of symbols for microfluidic components, is generated either interactively or using the synthesizable computer code. The microfluidic circuit schematic is then functionally simulated. The microfluidic components are placed and routed on a template to form a physical layout. Then the physical layout is physically simulated using dynamic simulation models of the microfluidic components; and the physical layout is written to a layout file.

摘要: A cell voltage monitoring device is powered internally by the stack being measured and uses no external power sources whatsoever. The cell voltage monitoring device comprises a plurality of differential amplifiers each corresponding to a cell within the stack. The differential amplifiers are divided into groups of a suitable number, each group corresponding to a set of series-connected cells being collectively measured by the differential amplifiers in that group. Within each group of differential amplifiers, the positive supply terminal of each differential amplifier is connected to the most positive output terminal of the corresponding set of series-connected cells, and the negative supply terminal of each differential amplifier is connected to the most negative output terminal of the corresponding set of series-connected cells. By doing so, each group of differential amplifiers is powered by the set of series-connected cells being measured by that group. A method of cell voltage monitoring based on this device.

One or more regions of the prosthesis may be configured to inhibit erosion into and/or the formation of adhesions with tissue and organs. The prosthesis may include an erosion resistant edge to buffer an edge of the fabric from the adjacent tissue or organs. The erosion resistant edge may be provided along an opening that is adapted to receive a tube-like structure, such as the esophagus.

摘要: A pulse oximeter has an integrated mode in which it operates as a plug-in module for a multiparameter patient monitoring system (MPMS). The pulse oximeter also has a portable mode in which operates separately from the MPMS as a battery-powered handheld or standalone instrument. The pulse oximeter has a sensor port that receives a photo-plethysmographic signal as input to an internal processor. The pulse oximeter processes this sensor signal to derive oxygen saturation and pulse rate measurements. In the portable mode, this information is provided on its display, and stored in memory for trend capability. A keypad provides a user interface for operational control in the portable mode. In the integrated mode, the pulse oximeter provides oxygen saturation and pulse rate measurements to the MPMS through a communications interface, along with previously stored trend data, and displayed on the MPMS monitor. The MPMS also provides external power and operational control of the pulse oximeter in the integrated mode. Alternatively, a docking station operates as a plug-in module that provides the mechanical and electrical interface between a portable pulse oximeter and MPMS instruments from a variety of manufacturers. In the integrated mode, the portable pulse oximeter docks to the docking station, which in turn is inserted in one or more MPMS slots. The docking station can function as a simple electrical pass-through device between the docked portable pulse oximeter and the MPMS or it can provide a MPMS communications interface.

摘要: A method for forming a bottom electrode of a capacitor is provided. A substrate having a conductive region is provided. A first insulation layer, a stop layer and a second insulation layer are formed on the substrate in order. The first insulation layer, the stop layer and the second insulation layer are patterned to form an opening. The opening exposes the conductive region in the substrate. A first conductive layer is formed on the second insulation layer and fills the opening, and then the first conductive layer is defined to form a plug and a metal plate. The plug can be electrically connected with the conductive region. The metal plate is used as a mask, and the second insulation layer is removed by anisotropic etching to form a third insulation layer having a first distance from the third insulation layer surface to the stop layer surface. Then, the third insulation layer is removed by isotropic etching to form a fourth insulation layer having a second distance from the fourth insulation layer surface to the stop layer surface. A second conductive layer is formed on the fourth insulation layer and the metal plate. Finally, the second conductive layer is removed by anisotropic etching to expose the metal plate and a portion of the fourth insulation layer. Then, the fourth insulation layer is removed by isotropic etching to expose the stop layer and the plug.

摘要: An improved control structure for music synthesis is provided in which: 1) the sound representation provided to the adaptive function mapper allows for a greatly increased degree of control over the sound produced; and 2) training of the adaptive function mapper is performed using an error measure, or error norm, that greatly facilitates learning while ensuring perceptual identity of the produced sound with the training example. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, sound data is produced by applying to an adaptive function mapper control parameters including: at least one parameter selected from the set of time and timbre space coordinates; and at least one parameter selected from the set of pitch, .DELTA.pitch, articulation and dynamic. Using an adaptive function mapper, mapping is performed from the control parameters to synthesis parameters to be applied to a sound synthesizer. In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, an adaptive function mapper is trained to produce, in accordance with information stored in a mapping store, synthesis parameters to be applied to a sound synthesizer, by steps including: analyzing sounds to produce sound parameters describing the sounds; further analyzing the sound parameters to produce control parameters; applying the control parameters to the adaptive function mapper, the adaptive function mapper in response producing trial synthesis parameters comparable to the sound parameters; deriving from the sound parameters and the trial synthesis parameters an error measure in accordance with a perceptual error norm in which at least some error contributions are weighted in approximate degree to which they are perceived by the human ear during synthesis; and adapting the information stored in the mapping store in accordance with the error measure.
