摘要:
A method for generating electrical energy, wherein a carbonaceous fuel is gasified to a combustible gas, the combustible gas being combusted to drive an apparatus chosen from a gas turbine and a gas engine. Relatively hot exhaust gas from the apparatus is passed along a heat exchanger for removing heat from the relatively hot exhaust gas results in relatively cold exhaust gas after passing the heat exchanger. A kaolin or metakaolin-containing sorbent and a source of active free silica are introduced after the apparatus to remove mercury from the relatively hot exhaust gas, the relatively hot exhaust gas having a temperature of at least 800° C.

A process for the conversion of a hydrocarbon to CO2 and electrical power is described which includes subjecting a gas mixture of a hydrocarbon feed stream and steam to an integrated reforming process including stages of steam reforming in a gas-heated reformer and secondary reforming to generate a reformed gas mixture, increasing the hydrogen content of the reformed gas mixture by subjecting it to one or more water-gas-shift stages, cooling the resulting hydrogen-enriched reformed gas and separating condensed water therefrom, passing the resulting de-watered hydrogen-enriched reformed gas to one or more stages of carbon dioxide separation to recover carbon dioxide, combusting the remaining hydrogen-containing fuel stream with an oxygen containing gas in a gas turbine to generate electrical power and passing the exhaust gas mixture from the gas turbine to a heat recovery steam generation system that feeds one or more steam turbines to generate additional electrical power.

A turbomachine includes a compressor section, a turbine section operatively connected to the compressor section, a combustor fluidly connected between the compressor section and the turbine section, and a carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction system fluidly connected to the combustor. The CO2 extraction system includes a CO2 separator. The CO2 separator separates a CO2 laden inlet gas stream into a first gas stream and a second gas stream. The first gas stream is substantially free of CO2 and the second gas stream comprises CO2. The first gas stream is directed to the combustor and the second gas stream is passed through a discharge conduit.

A gas turbine is driven by a combustion gas produced when BFG compressed by a gas compressor and air compressed by a compressor are burned in a combustor. Steam is generated from a waste heat boiler by utilization of heat of an exhaust gas from the gas turbine, and a steam turbine is driven by this steam. An electric generator generates electricity upon driving of the turbines. A condensing heat exchanger is disposed in an air intake duct, and part of steam from the waste heat boiler flows through the heat exchanger to heat intake air. The amount of steam that flows through the heat exchanger is adjusted by adjusting the degree of opening of a steam control valve by a control device. By so doing, the ignition performance of the gas turbine in a BFG-fired gas turbine combined cycle plant is enhanced even in an extremely cold district.

A gas turbine engine used to produce electric power is supplied with a fuel from a alcohol fuel producing process. A high pressure syngas left over from the alcohol fuel producing process is passed through a small turbine to drive an electric generator and produce electric power. The low pressure syngas from the turbine is then passed into a combustor of the gas turbine engine to power the gas turbine, which drive a larger electric generator to produce more electric power. The high pressure syngas can be passed through a heat exchanger to preheat the syngas prior to be burned within the combustor. By using the small turbine to reduce the pressure of the high pressure syngas, energy from the high pressure syngas can be extracted instead of wasted.

A flexible and automatic system and method for blending an inexpensive secondary gas with a primary gas fuel for operation of a Dry Low NOx gas turbine. The secondary gas may be a gas fuel such as hydrogen, ethane, butane, propane and liquefied natural gas or an inert gas. Combustion dynamics are avoided by controlling the blended fuel within a permissible range for a Modified Wobbe Index. Combustion dynamics and gas turbine exhaust emissions may also be monitored to maintain safe combustion with the blended fuel. A gas turbine control system may adjust the blend and temperature of the primary gas fuel and the secondary gas to promote desired combustion.

Methods and systems are provided for delivering an additive to a turbine combustor. In one embodiment, a water injection system directs water through a water passage to a turbine combustor at a flow rate that is variable to achieve a first control function. An additive delivery system directs an amount of an additive through the water passage to the combustor to achieve a second control function. The amount of the additive is variable based on the flow rate of the water, and the first and second control functions are different from one another.

A plant produces electrical energy from municipal solid waste without exhausting a carbon dioxide or other carbon based gas to the atmosphere. The plant includes a source of artificial light powered by electrical energy, and a reactor into which the municipal solid waste is fed and which is operated under temperature, pressure and flow rate conditions to produced a syngas. An electrical energy generating station at which the syngas is burned produces the electrical energy and a flue gas comprising carbon dioxide and other products of combustion. At least a portion of the electrical energy is used to power the artificial light source. A carbon dioxide collector separates the carbon dioxide from the other products of combustion in the flue gas to provide a clean carbon dioxide suitable as a nutrient for microorganisms, and a farm of the microorganisms is illuminated essentially constantly, alternately with sunlight and artificial light from said source.
