A method for producing coating composition exhibiting sprayability at low VOC and excellent performance characteristics as a coating is disclosed. The composition is based on low molecular weight anhydride resin having pendant non-cyclic anhydride moieties and epoxy resin. The composition includes an active catalyst for controlling the volatility of the coating during cure. The composition also includes a surface tension reducing agent that wets the surface during coating application.

The present invention proposes highly practical curable resin compositions for use in water based paints, which contain no, or much less organic solvent when compared with current organic solvent based paints, and which produce painted surfaces which have excellent curability and weather resistant properties, as well as excellent resistance to solvents, chemicals and water. These curable resin compositions include a compound combining both epoxy and hydrolyzable silyl groups, and a water based product obtained by dispersing or dissolving in water, a tertiary amino vinyl polymer, a vinyl polymer containing both tertiary amino and acidic groups, or an acidic vinyl polymer, which has been either partially or completely neutralized by an acidic or basic compound.

There is provided an aqueous resin composition which does not cause coagulation, can be cured at low temperature, and, by this curing, forms a coating superior in mechanical strength, water resistance, solvent resistance and adhesion to various substrates. The aqueous resin composition of this invention comprises an oxazoline group-containing polymer (A), a carboxyl group-containing polymer (B), and an acidic compound-amine salt catalyst (C). The curing is carried out by a reaction between the oxazoline group-containing polymer (A) and the carboxyl group-containing polymer (B) in the presence of the acidic compound-amine salt catalyst (C).

An object of the present invention is to provide a heat-curable high solid coating composition capable of forming a coating film which is excellent in both acid resistance and scratch resistance, and a method for forming a topcoat using said composition. The present invention provides a heat-curable high solid coating composition comprising: (A) a carboxyl-containing compound, (B) a vinyl polymer having an epoxy group, a hydroxyl group and a hydrolyzable alkoxysilyl group in one molecule, (C) a reactive organopolysiloxane, and (D) a crosslinked particulate polymer. The present invention also provides a method for forming a topcoat using said composition.

The invention relates to a procedure for staining a contact lens, wherein at least part of the surface of the lens consisting of a polymer containing hydroxyl and/or carboxyl groups is coated with a color coating containing as polymer-cross-linking agent a compound with at least two urethane groups or a mixture of such compounds, and urethane exchange is effected for causing cross-linking of polymers, by reacting the urethane groups with the hydroxyl and/or carboxyl groups of the bonding agent polymer and of the lens polymer.
