Abstract:
Generating an optimal power cap value includes steps of: analyzing power usage of a system for a specified period of time; computing a power consumption value for the system for the specified period of time; and generating the optimal power cap value for the system, using the computed power consumption value. The system should be coupled with a power meter and should support power regulation technology.
Abstract:
A method and system for updating a background picture of a web search results page for different search queries. The method includes receiving a search query from a user and determining one or more text search results for the search query. The method also includes determining one or more images for the search query by at least one of extracting the one or more images from webpages associated with the one or more text search results, and extracting the one or more images from an image web search. Further, the method includes assembling the one or more images to create the background picture. Moreover, the method includes rendering the one or more text search results, for the search query, in the web search results page along with the background picture. The system includes one or more electronic devices, a communication interface, a memory, and a processor.
Abstract:
The subject invention concerns an electroporation buffer that allows for enhanced transfection efficiency and cell viability of cells during application of an electric current. Buffers of the invention provide for maximum transfer of target particles into cells while maintaining the health and growth potential of the cell population. Compositions of the invention comprise electroporation buffers of approximately physiological ionic strength and pH, and having serum or purified proteins, such as serum albumin, added thereto. The subject invention is suitable for use with any cell type. The subject invention also concerns methods of electroporation using an electroporation buffer of the invention.
Abstract:
A method and system for converting source tables of a database of the application to target tables of a new version of the database while reducing the amount of time that the database needs to be open in single-user access mode is provided. A conversion system divides the conversion into a multi-user phase and a single-user phase. During the multi-user phase, the conversion system can perform most of the conversions while the database is opened in multi-user access mode. The conversion system stores the converted data in auxiliary tables, rather than updating the source tables. During the single-user phase, the conversion system performs the remaining conversions and copies data from the source tables and the converted data from the auxiliary tables to the target tables.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a plurality of samples, each of which includes particles of a predetermined particle dimension, within narrow predetermined limits, dispersed in a carrier at a predetermined particle concentration. The predetermined particle dimension and the predetermined particle concentration are the same for each sample. However, advantageously, each sample has a different predetermined ratio of a value of an optical property of the particles to a value of the same optical property of the carrier. The present invention also provides a method for selecting a target sample from the plurality of samples to assess the measurement accuracy or the detection sensitivity of an optical particle analyzer as the predetermined ratio approaches 1.
Abstract:
Packet communication networks for transmission to wireless subscriber devices utilize both wireline and wireless packet routing components. The routing elements of these two different types often implement different packet scheduling algorithms, typically a form of Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ) in the wireline portion of the network and Proportional Fairness (PF) queuing in the wireless domain. To improve resource allocation and thus end to end quality of service for time sensitive communications, such as integrated multimedia services, the present disclosure suggests adding the notion of slack time into either one or both of the packet scheduling algorithms. By modifying one or more of these algorithms, e.g. to reorder or shuffle packets based on slack times, global optimal resource allocations are possible, at least in certain cases.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a fuel additive composition for stabilizing blends of ethanol and a hydrocarbon boiling in the gasoline or diesel range, comprising: a) 0.1-10% of Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL) derivative(s) or mixtures thereof of formula (I) where m=0-12, n=0, 2, 4 & 6 and b) 0.1-10% of an organic co-solvent depending upon the percentage composition of diesel and ethanol blend.
Abstract:
Recesses are formed in the drain and source regions of an MOS transistor. The recesses are formed using two anisotropic etch processes and first and second sidewall spacers. The recesses are made up of first and second recesses, and the depths of the first and second recesses are independently controllable. The recesses are filled with a stressed material to induce strain in the channel, thereby improving carrier mobility. The widths and depths of the first and second recesses are selectable to optimize strain in the channel region.
Abstract:
A method and system of Digital Rights Management (DRM) in a consumer environment where the DRM agent and the rendering application are implemented on separate devices is provided. A first control message is transmitted from the rendering application to notify the DRM agent about the details of a content consumption pattern. The DRM agent receives the first control message, and determines whether the consumption operation detailed in the first control message is a permitted operation. The DRM agent responds with a second control message that either indicates that the operation is permitted or indicates that the operation is not permitted. The rendering application in response to the second control message either halts the consumption operation or if the operation is allowed, performs the consumption operation.
Abstract:
