Abstract:
A method for estimating three-dimensional positions of human joints includes the steps of: a) marker-free motion capturing a moving figure for obtaining a multiview 2D image of the moving figure, and extracting a 2D feature point corresponding to a bodily end-effector; b) three-dimensionally matching the 2D feature point corresponding to the bodily end-effector, and recovering the 3D coordinates of the bodily end-effector; c) generating a 3D blob of the bodily end-effector, generating a virtual sphere with a radius that is a distance from a center of the 3D blob to a joint, and projecting the virtual sphere onto the obtained multiview 2D image of the moving figure; and d) detecting a coinciding point of a surface of the projected virtual sphere and the multiview 2D image of the moving figure, and estimating a 3D position corresponding to the coinciding point as a 3D position of the joint.
Abstract:
Provided is a method of sensitively detecting nucleic acids in a nucleic acid sample, the method comprising: contacting the sample comprising the nucleic acid with a non-specific nucleic acid binding agent in an electrically conductive fluid medium; contacting the sample comprising the nucleic acid bound to the agent with a nanopore; and applying a voltage to the nanopore and monitoring a current change through the nanopore. The nucleic acid can be sensitively detected because a change in current amplitude through the nanopore is greater than when nucleic aid detection is performed without using an intercalator.

Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an apparatus for operating the cover of a mobile device. The apparatus includes a cylindrical housing formed on one end of the device cover. The cylindrical housing accommodates an operating means. The cylindrical housing has a projection at its first side and is open at its second side. Two holding projections are integrated with a device body, have opposite holding recesses and rotatably support the cylindrical housing. A hinge shaft is connected to the output end of the operating means, the cam portion of which is inserted into one of the holding recesses. Elasticity means is situated in the holding recess into which the cam portion is inserted for exerting a predetermined amount of elastic force on the cam portion. A switch is formed on one side of the device body for applying an operating signal to the operating means. Position sensing means is comprised of a brush housing and a rectification housing attached to the operating means and the hinge shaft at opposite positions for detecting the same phase state when the first and second patterns are electrically connected and applied with electricity at certain positions by the brush.
Abstract:
A clamping device of a disk drive including a driving source, a driving member rotated by the driving force of the driving source; a clamping member for clamping a disk while being ascended and descended by virtue of a rotation movement of the driving member; a clamping member ascending and descending unit for switching the rotation movement of the driving source to ascending and descending movement of the clamping member, and elastically supporting the disk on a turntable while the disk is being mounted on the turntable; and an elastic press member installed on the upper surface of the driving member, for pressing the clamping member in the direction where the disk is positioned. The elastic support arm, which is thin and has a desirable restoring force, is driven by the rotation movement of the clamp driving member, thereby ascending and descending the clamper. Thus, the overall construction is thin, light and small as well as ensuring the firm and reliable clamping of the disk. In addition, during the clamping operation, the disk is mounted on the turntable more accurately, and by having a construction that one of support pieces of the elastic support arms is installed higher than the others, force is sequentially transferred to the clamper, rather than being transferred suddenly, so that its process is performed smoothly.

Abstract:
A stepping motor for optical pick-up devices is disclosed. In the stepping motor, a stator, having a coil and a yoke, is fixed to a first support plate. A rotating shaft is rotated by the coil of the stator, with a first end of the shaft being inserted into the stator and a second end being exposed outside the stator and being externally threaded to form a lead screw. The first and second ends are each domed. A first holder, having a trapezoidal dent, rotatably holds the domed first end of the shaft within the trapezoidal dent while being brought into point contact with the domed first end. A second holder, having a trapezoidal dent, rotatably holds the domed second end of the shaft within the trapezoidal dent while being brought into point contact with the domed second end. The second holder is supported by a second support plate while being normally and elastically biased by a spring means in an axial direction of the rotating shaft, thus elastically supporting the shaft in the axial direction. Due to such a simple support structure for the rotating shaft, the stepping motor has a reduced number of elements and is easily produced through a simple process while accomplishing improved operational reliability and improved productivity and reducing the operational noises.
Abstract:
A fault tolerant voltage regulator module (VRM) circuit for a processor simultaneously supplies a core voltage to a plurality of processors, has a plurality of main VRMs (VRM) for supplying the same core voltage to the plurality of processors, a stand-by VRM for use upon a fault occurring in the plurality of main VRMs, a plurality of diodes connected in parallel between each of the main VRMs and the stand-by VRM for automatically supplying power to the stand-by VRM, a plurality of first power islands for connecting each of the plurality of main VRMs to the processor and each of output port of the plurality of diodes, a control signal set switch for setting output voltage level of the stand-by VRM and a second power island for connecting the stand-by VRM to input ports of the plurality of diodes and the control signal set switch. When a processor core voltage level and L2 cache voltage level are different, a fault tolerant VRM circuit further has a plurality of schottky diodes and a plurality of power MOSFETs for by-passing the schottky diodes so that the stand-by VRM can support two different voltage levels. The circuit improves stability of supplying board power owing to a fault tolerant VRM in processors and enables just one stand-by VRM to effect simultaneous support of a plurality of main VRMs and even different voltage level main VRMs using schottky diodes.
