Abstract:
A new strategy to design container molecules is presented. Sulfonylcalix[4]arenes, which are synthetic macrocyclic containers, are used as building blocks that are combined with various metal ions and tricarboxylate ligands to construct metal-organic ‘super-containers’ (MOSCs). These MOSCs possess both endo and exo cavities and thus mimic the structure of viruses. The synthesis of MOSCs is highly modular, robust, and predictable.
Abstract:
The invention provides the discovery and characterization of a novel arterivirus protein (nsp2TF), whose expression is dependent on −2 ribosomal frameshifting at a site located in the nsp2 coding region. The coding region for the unique TF domain of nsp2TF overlaps the part of ORF1a that encodes the transmembrane region of nsp2 in arteriviruses, including PRRSV, LDV and SHFV. Mutations affecting the expression of nsp2TF impair PRRSV replication and result in a smaller plaque phenotype. Provided herein are arteriviruses that display reduced translation of nsp2TF and/or altered translation of one or more downstream products, arteriviruses in which nsp2TF function is reduced and/or absent, and vaccines comprising said arteriviruses. Also provided herein are diagnostic methods, methods for identifying compounds that inhibit −2 frameshifting, and gene expression tools for eukaryotic systems utilizing −2 frameshifting.

The present disclosure relates to lithium-ion energy storage systems, methods of manufacturing a lithium-ion battery, and lithium-ion batteries having an Ni-rich cathode, an anode, an electrolyte, and a separator. Preferably, the electrolyte is located between the anode and the cathode, and includes a fluorinated solvent, an additive, and a lithium salt.
Abstract:
The present invention describes a bio-based process to produce high quality protein concentrate (HQPC) by converting plant derived celluloses into bioavailable protein via aerobic incubation, including the use of such HQPC so produced as a nutrient, including use as a fish meal replacement in aquaculture diets.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a one-step process for preparation of “in-situ” or “ex-situ” self-organized and electrically conducting polymer nanocomposites using thermally initiated polymerization of a halogenated 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene monomer or its derivatives. This approach does not require additional polymerization initiators or catalysts, produce gaseous products that are naturally removed without affecting the polymer matrix, and do not leave by-product contaminants. It is demonstrated that self-polymerization of halogenated 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene monomer is not affected by the presence of a solid-state phase in the form of nanoparticles and results in formation of 3,4-polyethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT) nanocomposites.

Disclosed herein are compositions for treating cancer comprising a modified veratridine. In certain aspects, the modified veratridine comprises a polyglutamic acid (PLE) or polyethylene glycol/polyglutamic acid (PEG-PLE) conjugated to the 4′ hemiketal thereof. Further disclosed is a method of treating colorectal cancer in a subject comprising administering to a subject an effective amount of the disclosed compositions.
Abstract:
This application relates to anode compositions and methods of making and using the same. In particular, the anode compositions are preferably layered. Preferably, the methods of making the anode compositions comprise a surfactant mediated assembly of layers. The anode compositions have improved structural integrity and capacity while reducing capacity fade due to cycling.
