Abstract: A vehicular imaging system includes a camera with an imaging sensor. A red-pass spectral filter is disposed at each pixel of a first set of photosensing pixels, a blue-pass spectral filter is disposed at each pixel of a second set of photosensing pixels, a green-pass spectral filter is disposed at each pixel of a third set of photosensing pixels, and each pixel of a fourth set of photosensing pixels senses at least near infrared radiation. A near infrared illumination source is operable to emit non-visible near infrared illumination to enhance nighttime viewing by the camera. Outputs of the pixels of the first, second and third sets of photosensing pixels are processed for at least one of (i) a lane departure warning system and (ii) an object detection system. Output of the photosensing pixels of the fourth set of photosensing pixels is processed for a night vision system.

A control within the vehicle includes an image processor and receives image data captured by the single imaging sensor and receives vehicle data via a communication bus of the vehicle. Responsive at least in part to image processing of captured image data, the control detects converging road features along the road the vehicle is travelling and determines a point of intersection where the converging road features would converge. Responsive at least in part to image processing of captured image data, the control automatically corrects for misalignment of the imaging device mounted at the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a camera having an exterior field of view at least rearward of the vehicle and operable to capture image data. A trailer is attached to the vehicle and image data captured by the camera includes image data captured when the vehicle is maneuvered with the trailer at an angle relative to the vehicle. The vehicular control system determines a trailer angle of the trailer and is operable to determine a path of the trailer responsive at least to a steering angle of the vehicle and the determined trailer angle of the trailer. The vehicular control system determines an object present exterior of the vehicle and the vehicular control system distinguishes a drivable surface from a prohibited space, and the vehicular control system plans a driving path for the vehicle that neither impacts the object nor violates the prohibited space.

Abstract: A method of calibrating cameras of a multi-camera vision system for a being-assembled vehicle includes providing a plurality of targets at a vehicle assembly line at a vehicle assembly plant and moving a being-assembled vehicle along the vehicle assembly line. When the being-assembled vehicle is moved along the vehicle assembly line so as to be at provided calibrating targets, at least some targets of the calibrating targets are encompassed by respective fields of view of the cameras of the being-assembled vehicle. The presence of at least one target is determined via processing of captured image data and as the being-assembled vehicle moves along the vehicle assembly line. Responsive to determination of the presence of at least one target, the cameras are calibrated and as the being-assembled vehicle moves along the vehicle assembly line.

Abstract: An imaging system for a vehicle includes an imaging sensor and a video display device. The imaging system generates an overlay that is electronically superimposed on the displayed images to assist a driver of the vehicle when executing a backup maneuver. The overlay has first, second and third overlay zones, with the overlay zones indicative of respective distance ranges from the rear of the vehicle to respective distances. As indicated to the driver viewing the video display screen when executing a backup maneuver, the first distance is closer to the rear of the vehicle than the second distance and the second distance is closer to the rear of the vehicle than the third distance. The first overlay zone may be a first color and the second overlay zone may be a second color and the third overlay zone may be a third color.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes at least one camera and an image processor. The camera is disposed at a vehicle and has an exterior field of view rearward of the vehicle. The camera is operable to capture image data. The image processor is operable to process captured image data. The vision system, responsive at least in part to image processing of captured image data, is operable to determine a trailer angle of a trailer that is towed by the vehicle. The vision system is operable to determine a path of the trailer responsive to a steering angle of the vehicle and the vision system is operable to display information for viewing by the driver to assist the driver in driving the vehicle with the trailer.
