Abstract:
To reduce FIFO access cycles across a system bus in a multi-processor system in which two processors communicate across a system bus through a FIFO, two separate FIFO descriptors are provided. The first descriptor is maintained by the processor located on-board with the FIFO, and the second descriptor is maintained by an off-board processor which communicates with the FIFO across the bus. When one processor performs a FIFO operation, the processor updates the other processor's descriptor via a memory access across the bus. Additionally, one module passes credits to the other to indicate that the latter has permission to perform a plurality of FIFO operations consecutively. In one embodiment a special non-valid data value is used to indicate an empty FIFO position.

Abstract:
An image morphological processing system is formed by a cascade of a plurality of transformation stages. A pair of handshake data flow control lines couple each pair of adjacent stages. One line carries a first signal indicating when the previous stage has data available at its output and the other line carries a second signal which designates when the subsequent stage is able to receive data from the previous stage. In order that first and second signals can propagate in an orderly manner through a long cascade of stages, each signal is delayed by one cycle of the signal which clocks image data through the cascade. The delayed signal is then coupled to the next stage along the cascade. By controlling the propagation of the control signals to correspond to that of the image data the integrity of the data is maintained. Each stage also includes a circuit which detects when an idempotent transformation is performed by that stage.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a water-absorbing material obtainable by a process comprising the steps of A) treating a particulate, non-surface-crosslinked, water-absorbing polymer with a mixture comprising an aqueous solvent and at least one salt of a transition metal and B) irradiating the polymer treated according to A) with UV radiation, to a process for its production and to articles comprising the water-absorbing material.
Abstract:
The invention relates to hydrogels capable of absorbing aqueous fluids, which hydrogels are produced by polymerization of olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acids or their derivatives. The hydrogels are characterized in that before, during or after the polymerization reaction and before drying a silicic acid alkali salt of the general formula (I) M2O×nSiO2 is added to the polymerization reaction mixture. In said formula M is an alkali metal and n is a number between 0.5 and 4. The hydrogel obtained in this way is then dried at an elevated temperature. The invention also relates to a method for producing said hydrogels and to their use for absorbing aqueous fluids.
