摘要： The user receives a digital radio transmission through a digital receiver and transmits a request to download selected content from this transmission to a content agent, an entity responsible for authorizing the authorized downloading of the digital content. If the content is not free of charge, the user also transmits sufficient information to allow for payment for the digital. The user then receives a transmission authorizing the downloading of the digital content from the content agent upon acceptance of the payment by the content agent. The user then downloads the content to a storage device which is coupled to the receiver.

摘要： A computer-implemented method of selectively recording and playing the content of a broadcast program includes playing on a media player one of a plurality of prestored files which include program content. A broadcast program is received and it is determined whether a predetermined criteria associated with the broadcast program is met. If the predetermined criteria is met, at least a portion of content of the broadcast program is automatically recorded. The recorded content of the broadcast program on the media player is then automatically played, either immediately after being recorded or at the end of playing the one prestored file.

An integrated receiver decoder determines whether or not ATRAC (Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding) data requiring authentication is contained in selected piece-of-music data in accordance with determination data added into transmitted data. When ATRAC data requiring authentication is contained, the integrated receiver decoder performs an authentication process between it and a storage which is a transfer destination of the ATRAC data, and performs downloading of the ATRAC data after confirming that the storage is a valid apparatus to which the downloading may be performed.

A broadcasting system includes a broadcasting apparatus which sequentially transmits first broadcast data containing first control information and second broadcast data containing second control information over the same channel, and a receiving apparatus which executes, upon sequentially loading of the first and second broadcast data, processing based on the first control information and second control information on the basis of an input command. With this arrangement, when first or second broadcast data is precondition information and the precondition information of a broadcast program is cut on the viewer side, since first or second control information is omitted, the use of the broadcast program can be limited.

摘要： Music is blanket transmitted (for example, via satellite downlink transmission) to each customer's computer-based user station. Customers preselect from a list of available music in advance using an interactive screen selector, and pay only for music that they choose to have recorded for unlimited playback, for example, by a “CD burner”. An antipiracy “ID tag” is woven into the recorded music so that any illegal copies therefrom may be traced to the purchase transaction. Music is transmitted on a fixed schedule or through an active scheduling process that monitors music requests from all or a subset of satellite receivers and adjust scheduling according to demand for various CD's. Receivers store selections that are likely to be preferred by a specific customer. In those instances where weather conditions, motion atmospheric layers or dish obstructions result in data loss, the system downloads the next transmission of the requested CD and uses both transmissions to produce a “good copy”. In conjunction with the blanket transmission of more popular music, an automated CD manufacturing facility may be provided to manufacture CD's that are not frequently requested and distribute them by ground transportation.

摘要： A method of transmitting real time digital video, audio and composite signals along existing delivery circuit and transmission pathways that takes advantage of unused bandwidth in existing transmission spectrums and circuit pathways. The invention permits the delivery of messages, commands and data files which may be presented later to the consumer at a predefined time and place and in a predefined format allowing the transmission of CD quality digital sound, digital video and bitmap files to a consumer, group of consumers or consumer population. The method and apparatus described transmits information and data to the consumer in a non real-time background mode which may be stored in a local repository for future presentation. Presentation parameters are transmitted either concurrently with or subsequently to information and data. The method may be employed on a wide variety of platforms including television, cable, satellite, telephone networks, private and public data networks and dedicated lines. Inputs are accepted in either analog or digital formats and converted to a digitized format prior to transmission to a subscriber or directly to the end user. The signal is reassembled in accordance with the sender's commands and presented to the consumer in real-time fashion.
