Abstract:
There is provided a simplified and inexpensive method for the in-vitro identification, isolation and culture of human vasculogenic progenitor cells. The method and the progenitor cells isolated thereby can be used for in-vitro vascular engineering, treatment of congenital and acquired vascular and hematological abnormalities, for evaluation and development of drugs affecting vasculo- and angiogenic processes, and for further investigation into tissue differentiation and development.
Abstract:
An immuno-molecule which comprises a soluble human MHC class I effector domain; and an antibody targeting domain which is linked to the soluble human MHC class I effector domain, methods of making same and uses thereof.
Abstract:
A recombinant polypeptide and nucleic acid constructs capable of expressing the recombinant polypeptide are provided. The recombinant polypeptide comprises a chimeric polypeptide including an antigenic peptide being capable of binding a human MHC class I, a functional human null-2 microglobulin and a functional human MHC class I heavy chain.
Abstract:
Novel derivatives of 1-aminoindan and their salts are described. Optically active 1-aminoindan derivatives are prepared by reacting a N-benzyl analog of the desired compound with an enantiomer of mandelic acid. Parkinson's disease, dementia, epilepsy, convulsions, or seizures are treated by administering a compound of the formula: ##STR1##
Abstract:
A method for determining a flow rate of a substance or a thermo-contrast agent in an object including a surface and an upstream region, and the method comprising the steps of (a) providing the upstream region with a thermo-contrast agent; (b) obtaining successive temperature readings of at least a part of the surface of the object; (c) generating a temperature response curve from the temperature readings; (d) extracting a parameter from the temperature response curve; and (e) determining the flow rate from the parameter.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to selective surfaces for collectors of solar and other thermally useful radiation. According to the invention, a zinc-coated metal plate having a thickness of between 2.mu. and 30.mu. is immersed in an alkaline bath containing 2 to 30 g/l OH.sup.- and comprising sodium nitrate and sodium hydroxide. Subsequently, the anodized plate is passivated in an acidic bath which contains more than 2 g/l H.sup.+. Preferred constituents in the acidic bath are selected from acidic phosphate salts, oxalic acid, chromium ions, sulfuric acid or mixtures of two or more thereof. The selective thermal radiation collector surfaces obtained possess improved radiation properties, being capable of maintaining them even under corrosive conditions.

Abstract:
The method of converting clayey or silty soil into stable and solid underground columns or piles suitable for carrying a building structure, comprises first the drilling of bores of a diameter considerably smaller than the external diameter of the column or pile to be created, to a predetermined depth, and secondly directing a focused laser beam gradually across the entire surface of each bore by mechanical and optical means, in such a manner that each point of the bore surface is irradiated and heated at an intensity sufficient for converting the soil surrounding the bore into a solid permanent mass of a predetermined thickness measured from the bore surface, which mass retains its strength and is resistant to moisture and temperature.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods of diagnosing cancer in a test subject, comprising exposing an array of chemically sensitive sensors comprising a material selected from the group consisting of conductive nanostructures coated with an organic coating, a conducting polymer and a conductive polymer composite, to a blood sample and a urine sample obtained from the test subject, and analyzing output signals of the chemically sensitive sensors upon exposure of the array to the blood sample and the urine sample. The array of the chemically sensitive sensors can be a part of a portable medical device. Further provided is a method of diagnosing cancer in a test subject, comprising measuring and analyzing levels of a set of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in a blood sample and a urine sample obtained from the test subject.
Abstract:
