Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering and/or purifying water flowing through a water distribution system has a water filtration/purification cartridge mounted inside a housing. The apparatus provides for water boiler expansion pressure relief, while guarding against any water contaminated downstream of the apparatus backflowing into contact with the outlet side of the filtering and/or purifying matrix of the cartridge to prevent possible contamination of the outlet side of the matrix from such backflow and thereby cause water exiting the outlet port apparatus to be contaminated.
Abstract:
A water recovery system can treat water in a confined space. The wastewater treatment system includes a cation-exchange device in which water to be treated, such as wastewater originating in a space station, water discharged by the human body, water produced by condensing water vapor contained in the air, is directly introduced to a cation-exchange resin and thereby treated by cation exchange; a diamond-electrode electrolysis device in which organic substances, urea, and other nitrogen compounds contained in water discharged from the cation-exchange device are decomposed; a catalytic decomposition device in which the residual organic component is brought into contact with a catalyst to be decomposed; an electrodialysis device in which water discharged from the catalytic decomposition device is treated by electrodialysis to produce desalted water as well as an acid and an alkali; and a mineral adding device in which a mineral is added to the desalted water.
Abstract:
A compact, reverse osmosis water desalinization and purification system positions the reverse osmosis components, a holding tank, and a pressure tank, which provides desalinated and purified water to the end user, compactly on a single frame and skid. A chlorinator and post filter may be provided to further treat the water.
Abstract:
A fluid separation apparatus for separating a fluid mixture including at least two fluids having different densities comprising a vessel having a vortex generation zone located within a fluid reservoir which includes a vortex generation wall which increases the rotational velocity of a fluid mixture flowing through the vortex generation zone and directs the fluid mixture from the fluid inlet toward the upper surface of the fluid reservoir. The vessel also includes a fluid inlet which extends into the vortex generation zone; a first fluid outlet through which the less dense fluid exits the vessel; and a second fluid outlet through which the denser fluid exits the vessel. The apparatus further comprises a gas bubble generator which introduces gas bubbles into at least a portion of the fluid mixture before the fluid mixture enters the vessel through the fluid inlet.
Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering water has an interface and a filtration/purification canister removably mountable onto the interface. Connecting the canister to the interface automatically opens a check valve in the interface to permit water to flow from the interface into and through the canister, and then back to and through the interface to an outlet port. Disconnecting the canister from the interface automatically closes the check valve, stopping the flow of water. The interface provides for water boiler expansion pressure relief, while guarding against any water contaminated downstream of the apparatus from backflowing into the filtration/purification canister and contaminating the portion of the filtration/purification canister downstream of the filter/conditioning/purifying medium held within the filtration/purification canister and thereby causing water exiting the outlet port of the filtration/purification canister to be contaminated.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a water treatment device that can treat water at its point of use. For example, the water treatment device may be positioned at or near a faucet outlet, so that water can be treated immediately before it leaves the faucet. The water treatment device may be a water treatment reactor with a plurality of UV LEDs positioned between a shield and a heat sink component.
Abstract:
At least one electric atomizing fan is mounted on a portable land craft or a raft. An electric pump delivers pond water to the land craft or raft to evaporate the pond water. A land based power supply powers the pump and the atomizing fans. The either (submersible) pump sends the pond water to a dissipater adjacent the electric atomizing fan to produce a micro droplet mist. Preferably no additional evaporation chamber or heater is used. One embodiment uses a berm/platform to mount a plurality of land craft thereon. Either system could be mounted on a single trailer.
Abstract:
For treatment of ballast water, on uptake of ballast water into a ship, equilibrium peracetic acid and catalase are added to the ballast water, wherein equilibrium peracetic acid is added in an amount of from 5 to 50 mg/l peracetic acid and catalase is added in an amount which within 120 h breaks down the content of the hydrogen peroxide introduced with the equilibrium peracetic acid to less than 2 mg/l in the ballast water. For treating the ballast water, a device is suitable that comprises a ballast water tank, a conduit for filling the ballast water tank and a conduit for emptying the ballast water tank, wherein metering devices for equilibrium peracetic acid and catalase are connected to the conduit for filling the ballast water tank, and a metering device for a reducing agent is connected to the conduit for emptying the ballast water tank.

Abstract:
A water disinfection system includes a water disinfection device, having a UV light generator for the UV treatment of water, and a water pipe, having a first pipe portion and a second pipe portion and a third pipe portion which branches off between the first and the second pipe portion. The water disinfection device includes a first water connection and a second water connection. The first water connection is connected to the first pipe portion. The second water connection is connectable to a water reservoir which is to be provided. The second pipe portion is connectable to a water source which is to be attached. The third pipe portion is connectable to a tap for water, so as to be able in this way to provide an improvement in the water quality.
